BMC: The Devil Wears Nylon & Harry Potter

Halloween is always the big release for me as I just love Halloween themes! This year's offering was called The Devil Wears Nylon and while my wishlist wasn't so long as usual, it was only because the prices are so ridiculous that lots of things pruned themselves! But I still ended up with a sizeable haul.

Some of it took a long time to get me and then I was delayed in taking photos thanks to my tattoo, so apologies for this post coming so long after Halloween itself! And apologies for the poor quality of the photos as my phone got stolen so I'm using a super old one.


You know the drill by now, IOD always comes first! Invocation vs Haunted Graveyard Inside Out Dress allows me to get my hands on the Invocation print I missed out on when it was on a midi, although it doesn't look so nice on this shiny fabric. As for the other side, it looked a lot more blue in the site photos, but I prefer it more grey! It is a little similar to Haunted House which was on a previous IOD though.


Since I've been collecting the ouija pieces, the Ouija Board Black Boss Shirt and Ouija Board White BF Bomber were must haves! I'm still not convinced by BF sizing though, and the sizing of the boss shirt was a risk too and it does fit badly (bunches up so badly and gapes if I move my arms even slightly). Death By Disco PVC Skater Skirt is one I didn't intend to get but I got it to bulk up my third order since I loved this print the first time around! Need to make myself start wearing PVC, but it's just not very wearable, huh?


Trick or Treat Business Time Shirt was another risk in terms of sizing as it's a completely new cut, and I haven't tried anything like the Trick or Treat Pumpkin Cuffed Shorts before either. I maybe could have sized down for the shorts as I must be between sizes for them. I don't like the shirt when it's down as it's unflattering, but tied up like this is super cute!


Last but not least, the Voodoo Galaxy Scoop Skater Dress (you can tell this was my iPhone 6, huh?). I was so gutted I missed this print when it was on a boss shirt previously. By the time this was released I'd cooled off the print a bit, and the pastel bits are pixellated and cheap looking compared to the amazing quality of the galaxy background, but I do like it overall as the themes are very me.

I did have to change around my orders a bit, but I missed out on the Gone Batty Yoke Midi Skirt and decided that the Gone Batty Tee Dress would just be too long on me. I kinda wish I'd got the tee now though as I love that print! Two big wants I ruled out on the basis of price are the Voodoo Magic Harness Maxi Dress (so expensive it's over the upper customs limit, so there's no way I could ever have justified it) and The Choker Bralette that I now regret not buying. My only other want from the collection (other than the other PVC items which I really wouldn't wear!) is the Route 66 Skater Skirt, but it isn't limited (a rare occurrence!).


Not Halloween, but I also got the Great Lake vs Great Hall Inside Out Dress from the Halls of Hogwarts collection, and it arrived before 2 of my Halloween orders and blessedly without customs for once! I skipped the Ravenclaw Scoop Skater Dress as I think all those stripes that don't match up are ugly...they should have been designed like school or quidditch robes, damnit!

The release after those was the Marvel New York one, so I guess BM are really into the licenses right now. I guess Christmas must be around the corner, though!

Halloween

I somehow managed to skip writing about a lot of gigs (I've been to so many recently...and I don't think I wrote about Reading festival either?) but Halloween really can't be ignored.


I don't usually do anything for Halloween and hadn't planned to this year either, but then Bring Me The Horizon announced another London O2 Arena date. This wouldn't be particularly interesting...except Enter Shikari were to support as special guests. Um, yes please!


I missed part of Basement as they were on at 1830, which is when my lying ticket said doors were. I had been loitering around outside and checking out the merch tables! I only recognised one song, but they seem a pretty decent band and I would see them again at a festival, probably.


Next was Don Broco, who I have seen twice before. They were all dressed up as cowboys (like in their creepy music video) and put on the best show I've seen them do. They seem an odd choice of support being very poppy, but not complaining as they are a bit of a guilty pleasure!


Then the relief of not having to wait until next year to see Enter Shikari again! I'd be lying if I said I wasn't jealous of people with standing tickets as I'd have been able to get to the front with ease and couldn't see well from my seat at the back of the venue, but then again I easily had one of the best seats in the house and I finally got the chance to appreciate the stage set-up and lighting which is easily missed when you're at the front.


The set was 11 songs long, featuring 4 tracks from The Mindsweep, 3 from older albums, and 4 non-album singles including brand new Hoodwinker. Only thing I'd have wanted different from the set would be for it to be longer - can't fault the song choice at all, even if it wasn't all that different from their February tour set.


Now Bring Me The Horizon are definitely a guilty pleasure for me. I don't like their older stuff at all but do like the 2 newer, more mainstream albums. I have to say they completely blew me away this time! I've always enjoyed seeing them before, but the stage set up, lighting, and all that jazz were superb. They definitely deserve their arena tour, and I hope they do Cardiff on their next run!

The next day after a swift hangover recovery (sitting at Marble Arch with a book and a can of Monster for an hour until I felt human), I went for a half-hearted shopping trip along Oxford Street. I had intended to do my usual an have a nice long read at Jubilee Gardens at the other end, but I was so exhausted that I decided to rush back for one of the last super off-peak trains rather than giving myself another 5 hours to kill.


I didn't end up buying much at all this time! Though I stupidly forgot to go in the toy store and was too fed up of how crowded it was (and by google maps getting me lost) by the time I got to Forbidden Planet. BMTH shirt from the gig, necklace from Primark, the others from H&M (I'd be lying if I said my main motivation for buying that shirt was anything other than that it looked like something Rory C would wear). Err I was too lazy to take a photo sooo maybe I'll add it at some point later. I just realised I'd never post this if I didn't just do it before I forgot entirely haha.

Yankee Candle Haul!

Since Halloween was just around the corner, I thought I'd treat myself. I treated myself too much and made 3 Yankee Candle orders despite having no places in my room to use candles. Oops! And only getting around to posting in November...double oops!


A bunch of cat cuties! I'm still tempted by the wax melter too, but man I spent so much money.


Spidery things!


I wish I could get a whole bunch of these pumpkins. There are frankenstein and skull ones too, but I'm not as fond of them. Although if they make it to the sale I will be tempted! And the Pop vinyl figures I got in London.

I also got a bunch of little votive candles as they were a must for my various new holders! But I forgot to take a photo. I went for Vanilla Cupcake (I have an old room spray of this scent so I knew it was yummy), Fresh Cut Roses (roses are my all time favourite scent), Candy Corn, and Witches Brew. They all smell really nice, even before lighting them.


And despite the expense, both Halloween jars to go in the big holders. So yeah, I spent a ridiiiiiculous amount on these things! But they will last me a very long time, and I'm unlikely to be tempted by any of their stuff until next Halloween, so I'm trying to justify it that way!

BMC: Lady Anarchy

Bit of a delayed post as it took me while to get around to taking worn photos, but here are! The releases everyone seems to look forward to the most are the Halloween releases, and I'm no exception here.


This year's collection followed the story of Lady Anarchy.


I'm pretty gutted that the Lady Anarchy concept outfit wasn't part of the collection, because it's totally babein'.


Post cards have returned!


Naturally, the first item on my hit list was the Dark Moth Vs Play With Me Inside Out Dress. The baby side is super creepy, but I regretted not buying the Dark Moth Leggings, so it would have been a must even if I wasn't trying to collect IODs! Play With Me also came in HWMF leggings and play dress, which are both still available at time of writing.


Next up, buckles galore! Here we have the Buckled Bolero, Ultra Buckled Bralette, and the Buckled Suspenders. I'm a little disappointed with the bolero as the silver buckles don't match the other items, and I figured I'd be fine with my regular size. I think I should have sized down as I have to tighten the buckles fully and that takes away from the buckled aesthetic. Also I had assumed that they would be attached by poppers or slip clasps so you wouldn't have to undo the buckles to put on or remove, but sadly this isn't the case. The suspenders are super comfy though, if a little loose on the legs.


Also snagged was the Buckled Bralette and Spellbound HWMF Leggings. The bralettes...I should have sized down. I don't fill the cups at all, and I had to fully tighten the buckles on both items to make them fit which, again, takes away from the buckled look. I'm hoping they will be okay for layering over skater dresses though, as a bra will probably help them fit me better (this one is fine, but the ultra looks so awkward due to being big!). It is worth noting that I am between sizes though, so if you match a size better than me you should stick to that! The leggings are great, so my worries about the HWMF sizing changes were unfounded.


The Raven Pocket Skater Skirt finally gave me another chance to nab the ravens print, so that made me happy! I wasn't at all sure about wearing white, but turns out I love the skirt. And pockets make anything better, right?


The last piece I got from this collection is easily my favourite - the Spellbound Reversible Skater Dress. The print is awesome, and black is my favourite colour. Win-win!

I'm hoping the pieces that haven't been made limited stick around a good while as I'd love to own a Mechanical Bone Catsuit 2.0 but definitely can't afford one right now after the £90 customs I had to pay on this lot!

Excursion!

I made a fail of an H&M online order a week or so ago, so I had to return pretty much everything (the XS top was too small, the S top was too big, the Pusheen nightie was just vile). But it was a good excuse to out for the day by myself!


Couldn't resist grabbing a sharkie drink before getting the bus.


After returning the stuff to H&M in Bath and popping into Topshop, I got my tragus changed to a shorter bar and a cheeky rook piercing from Broad Street Studio. Most of my reason for this trip was that I need an old piercing checked out, but apparently it's fine!


Then it was chill time while I ate lunch at my favourite spot in town - Norfolk Crescent. After a few chapters of Goblet of Fire I hopped on a bus to Bristol.

And silly little boy's pjs in Primark. Not sure about keeping them as the bottoms are too short and have...erm..."room" in the crotch haha.


Full haul! Jeans from H&M, blood necklace from Topshop, the rest from Primark. I had intended to get some Yankee Candle Halloween stuff but felt uncomfortable in the store, so I ordered some online instead!

I'll admit, I did more sitting and reading than shopping on this occasion!

Pumpkin Patch

Belated post, but this year I finally got to carve a pumpkin myself! Rob and I bought and carved them together. He'd never carved one before!


The pumpkins! I chose the greenest one I could see in the store.


Carved! I did Gunter from Adventure Time and Rob did Isaac from The Binding Of Isaac. I ended up using a flat-headed screwdriver to shave the pumpkin after transferring my design from paper to the pumpkin by punching holes into it with a drawing pin.


Lit up!

My poor Gunter ended up going mouldy really quickly, but I'm still really pleased with how it turned out. I'm already planning next year's! And I want to eat some pumpkin next year too (mum used it in a dish which also contained mushrooms this year, so I didn't get to eat any!).

Crazy day!

Yesterday was super crazy! I booked the day off work as there was supposed to be a lolita meet/ghost walk which was cancelled, so I found myself with a free day and needed to fill it.


After a delay (mum wanted to go out and I figured I'd have lunch early) I headed to the bus stop in the pouring rain and got super cold!


I only had time to go in Primark in Bristol, but I picked up a huge cosy shirt, more pony pants, a bunch of warm legwear, and a reduced Halloween tee that matches all my Death By Disco stuff! Also picked up some little Christmas gifts and wish I'd got doubles as I love them haha.


Here are the shirts when I tried them on! As you can see, the shirt is way too big. They only had 8, 12, and 20 though and I wanted it so I snagged a 12 even though I'm a solid 10. I loooooove the jeans on, but didn't realise when I picked them up that they had zips at the ankles which would make altering them to fit my short legs an impossible task.


And rejected tops! I want the sweater real bad but I already have the t-shirt exactly the same, so couldn't justify it. And the other shirt I think I'd want a bigger size and was too lazy to go back and pick one up =P

I was already running out of time so I hopped on a bus to Bath. I had a tattoo booked for 16:30 so I only had time to track down some cheap Bepanthen before heading to Imperial Tattoo Company. I got there a little early so I warmed up in the pub with a half before going in. The counter was in the process of being moved so it was a little hectic in there, but my doubts about the tattoo disappeared once the stencil was on.


It was a design from Amy's Halloween flash that I hadn't been able to get on the day due to work and more work. I was initially torn between the flower and the planchette, but since several other tattoos I'm considering involve flowers I went for the latter.

I was super worried about the pain and stuff, but staying still was more painful than the actual tattoo in the end. This was as I got it on my inner left ankle and my left leg is somewhat deformed haha.


The day-old result! It looks adorable and already looking forward to showing it off with ankle socks in Summer. That said, that's one day's stubble growth, so maybe I didn't choose a good spot haha.

I had intended to get a piercing too, but I couldn't decide in time to get it as I was going to meet Rob at Friday Night Magic but wussed out and then didn't fancy rushing all the way back up to Broad Street. Boo. And then I couldn't figure out which bus I was supposed to take, and it turned out a gas leak has clogged up Hicks Gate so I couldn't actually get home without forking out for a train, so I had to get a bus to Norton and get my dad to pick me up. Luckily he needed to go to the shop anyway, but wow that was pretty stressful thinking I was going to have to walk several miles in the dark with no pavements to get home!


When I finally got home I found that the matching shirt for my tattoo from Killstar had arrived! I didn't realise it had a swear until it got here, oops!

Now to figure out if I should get more tattoos! I would love to cover my legs but all my tattoos are so tiny and I'm not sure I could face long sittings. I was in the shop for less than half an hour in total for this one!

More Halloween-y Black Milk

The neverending stream of Black Milk continues! But I love Halloween themes so it was kind of impossible to not go back for more.


This was my order from the last collection, Hot Mess! I got the Dark Mark Reversible Crop as I wanted more Harry Potter stuff, and after um-ing and ah-ing I figured I should continue to collect the IODs. This one, the Unearthly Vs Earthly Delights Inside Out Dress, really grew on me! I'm not sure about the naked people on it, but I love the colours. I even got Dr Martens to match the Unearthly side as I love the colours! This order arrived over two weeks after being placed and it felt like forever, especially since I accidentally sent it to the wrong address.


Then the Matte Evil Zip Dress finally restocked, and I decided to take the plunge and buy the Muscle and Bone 2.0 Catsuit!


I probably should have sized up for it as it's super tight on the chest, and it's not very wearable, but it's so awesome!


I snatched up this Awesome Pocket Skater Skirt when I saw it on BSS as it looks super practical. It feels a bit big, but doesn't fall down even when I put my phone in the pocket, so it's definitely worth it!


I also made another US order as I saw that Death By Disco Leggings and Merboy Straps Skater Dress were still in stock there. So much shiny! I wasn't sure I'd like Merboy but all the UK Sharkies said it was awesome, and they were right. No customs this time, and my order arrived in 6 days despite having to go via hopshopgo.

Now I have 11 days left to save up for the Christmas release! Thankfully there are only a couple bits I like/would wear enough to warrant buying. I'm still not sure about the IOD but collectionnnn haha.

Lolita Blog Carnival: Your Lolita Halloween Style

Our Halloween meet isn't until November, but I haven't participated in the Lolita Blog Carnival for a while now and I figure this gives me a chance to start thinking about my outfit for it!


I have only one Halloween-specific lolita piece, and that is Baby, The Stars Shine Bright's Halloween Alice from 2007. It's a dress I've had for a good few years, and it was one of my dream pieces when I bought it. While not too wearable, I doubt I'll ever sell it as the cut is so unusual.


This is a coordinate I made using this dress from way back in 2011. Since the meet will involve a ghost walk, I imagine I will coord it in a more practical manner this year. But we'll have to wait and see!

What kinds of themes do you like to bring into lolita at Halloween? I'm really not adventurous with it at all!

Pulp Horror!

For the Halloween Black Milk release I told myself I would only buy 2 items, and I expected that I would miss out on at least one of them. In the end I went a bit mad with the adrenaline of the thing and bought 9 things. Oops!


This was my first order, made 1 minute after release. I already had the Dem Lines and Flapper Hosieries in my bag (I wear my other BM tights all the time), and I grabbed an IOD and checked out as soon as I could! I wanted something Cthulhu print for a while, so when this Cthulhu Vs Haunted House Purple Inside Out Dress was announced I knew I HAD to have it. I was hoping that the other side would be purple Tentacles or Invisible Zombies, but the Haunted House looks so much better than I thought it would. I wonder why the IODs usually have a purple side, though?


The second order was placed 2 minutes after release, when I rushed back for the Wicked Web Silver Cheerleader Skirt. It would appear that I panicked unnecessarily as it is still in stock in my size now. Annoyingly it suffers the same odd shape deformity that the Wet Look Cheerleader got pulled for, but the print is lovely and shiny.


My third order was placed 13 minutes after release on the US site. I had missed the Death By Disco Straps Dress on worldwide and it was one of the pieces I knew I really wanted as it looked so wearable (all black all the everything!). They also have a bunch of stuff that already went museum on worldwide, so I snapped up the Ravenclaw Leggings I had regretting passing up in the past. On the left is the Mermaid Cap Sleeve Bodysuit that I got from Sophie, and my Lime Crime order is making a sneak preview of itself too haha.


My last order was 18 minutes after release. I liked the Free Spirit Scoop Skater as soon as it was sneaked at it's 3spoopy, and I knew I could think on it a little before buying as it was a 24 hour limited piece. I also went back for the Wicked Web Silver Reversible Crop to match the skirt and the Webtacular Hosiery.

It's kind of terrifying how quickly I blew a full month's paycheck, but at least I'll be a hot little boss all Halloween, right? And at least I know I will wear the stuff all year round unlike a lot of people! Still tempted to go back for Braaains Long Sleeve Crop, and I will be hunting down Eye See You Leggings and maybe Bloody Mary Wifey Top as they looked so much better in non-stock photos! And I really wish I could get on of the Mummy pieces, but I know white would look bad on me...boo!

At least the Hot Mess release was slightly kinder on my wallet!
