Frank Turner 1-12-12

Keep meaning to post more, but spend most of my time either doing work or stressing out about work I'm not doing so it just isn't happening right now, sorry!

Anywho, on Saturday I went to see Frank Turner in my hometown. Sixth time seeing him, already looking forward to the next time hehe. Photos are crappy as I only took my phone, so added some extras from xtramilerecordings.

First band was Jim Lockey & the Solemn Sun, who were actually really good.

Also Frank joined onstage with a bunch of other people all dressed in animal suits for Home/Hospitals (little video I found here).

Tempted to get a ticket to their local show in February since it'll be after my exams!

Next up was Tim Barry.

Unfortunately I missed a chunk of his set as I needed some water and the queue was huge. What I heard was good but same-y. I'd only heard one song of his before on the Try This At Home split. Elvis ended up joining in for the finale.

Wat.

And Frank was better than ever!

Really good mix of songs including some real oldies (sadly the setlist isn't up anywhere I can find).

Super happy to hear Casanova Lament live and a large amount of people singing all the words even though it was a b-side track.

Less happy about the guy who stood directly in front of me who must have been almost 7 feet tall who didn't even clap the whole time. You sir, are an asshole. Also as I discovered later, the harmonica-toting elephant who joined the stage for I Still Believe was none other than Emily Barker.

No gigs now until March (Biffy Clyro), unless I find something cool local or if anyone buys me Gaslight Anthem tickets...hehe.

And sadly missed out on International Lolita Day as plans just seemed to fall through. And missing the meet this week as it moved day and I just can't make it due to family commitments, which is a pain in the butt as I really miss lolita (it just isn't practical for every-day wear anymore) and I'd picked out an outfit already (took extra effort as it's a classic-themed meet and I had to get creative since my wardrobe is so sweet).

Tattoo Time!

For a while now I have been debating with myself over whether to get a tattoo or not. I'm a very fickle person by nature, but I figured why not? It doesn't have to be big, and it can be somewhere hidden. I already have to live with the hundreds of ugly moles all over my body, so what difference will a bit of ink make haha.

So I decided to get something small just in case it really hurt! A puzzle piece in fact. Which I like because I'd considered a puzzle piece before I was even old enough to get a tattoo, but had forgotten about it until I saw it on Simon Neil.

So yeah I guess I kinda got a band tattoo. Guessing that's what everyone will assume anyway, which is fine by me. But it means more than that. Coz life is pretty much like puzzle. You think you've got it all figured out, and got all the pieces together. But then you find out you were wrong, and it can all fall apart again! So this is a reminder to just keep trying, I guess.

BOOBIES! And yeah just after it was done. I was really surprised because everyone says that's the worst place to get a tattoo but the pain really wasn't too bad. Some bits it hurt more, but most of it was absolutely fine.

Close-up. I hadn't realised how lumpy and fatty my back was before but oh well! The tattoo isn't perfect by any means, but hey it was free (my cousin did it for me) so I'm not really that bothered. I don't think it notices unless you look really close up anyway, and since it'll usually be covered it doesn't matter xP

As for whether I'll get any more, I don't know. I had a few bits in mind (some lyrics, and the swallow from Poetry of the Deed), but while it was okay the pain made it really drag and it was only a tiny tattoo that took 5 minutes. I'm not sure I would want to put up with much more than that! Plus I'd want to get any more done properly and I really don't have money at the moment.

Catch-Up

Since it has been a while, I thought I'd do a little catch-up post! I've been rubbish at taking photos lately though so they're either awful or pinched from other people (-_-')

A few weeks ago Monika had a birthday night out. We did karaoke (I got rather drunk and carried away), and then we went to Bierkeller for some more drinking and more dancing! And I was a naughty meow (uh oh, I picked up Joyce's meow tic) and tried a cigarette for the first time orz

The birthday girl! Awesome gurololi outfit ♥

Karaoke-ers!

Sophie & I sampling WooWoos.

And a bunch of us trying to get in the shot xP

I was street-snapped in Bath earlier that day, but only got a handful of likes so I didn't win any shopping vouchers. Which is a shame, as I happened to put effort into my outfit that day!

More recently we had a Hallo-meme night where we all dressed (sort of) as memes! I was woman laughing alone with salad, but so was Antonia so we laughed together with salad xP though the photo hasn't surfaced anywhere yet!

Amy's super-duper awesome nyan-cat headdress! Seriously, this photo really doesn't do it justice.

Wearing Sophie's condescending Wonka hat! I was wearing Bodyline's Antique Clock OP but I didn't get an outfit shot.

That was a momentous night as I managed to not be hungover the next day! Although that was probably due to the fact that I left really early. My phone said the station was 7 minutes away but then someone pointed out I had it on car and it would take 20 minutes by foot, so I had to peg it. Guess how long it took? SEVEN BLOODY MINUTES ahaha I AM CAR.

On Halloween I went to a house party. The punch was awesome. The jelloshots were also awesome.

I wore too much make-up...

...and got my kigu dirty in the park D=

I look like such a deformed human in this thing, but it's so cosy!

And the pumpkin ate slugs instead of sweets. Ew.

Other than that I have been stressing out like mad over uni work. I have 2 essays and 2 presentations to do in the next couple weeks, and this is on top of the papers I have to read, exam notes, and dissertation work (which involves about a billion hours just sat in the lab with participants).

Also what are you guys thinking of the bigger photos I've been using? I'm not sure if they look too big with this theme or not (^_^')

Final Year Begins

Apologies for this having become more of a music and personal blog at the moment, but I have no room for more clothes so I haven't had any hauls to post, and there haven't been meets for a while as everyone seems really busy (and hardly anyone lives in my city anymore!).

This week was my first week back at university. I hate to admit that I have been very lazy already, avoiding doing the readings and putting off going to get my lab key as I am very reluctant to start testing again (I get so anxious when meeting people, it's horrible). However I kind of expected to be this way since I have done nothing all Summer (I should have been doing my dissertation) and little over the past year and a bit. At least I have a new tote bag for uni! My Meta one was suffering.

As such I have been exhausted all week just from having to go out for a few hours! My first lecture was on Monday morning at 9.15am, so I had to get up much earlier than I had wanted to. The bus queue was huge and was taking forever to go down, but luckily another bus pulled up and just ushered us on for free (lucky, since my bus pass didn't arrive until Tuesday).

My first subject was Foundations in Psychoanalysis. To be honest I chose this subject at random, but it seems quite interesting. We're supposed to keep a dream diary all week. I don't even dream usually, but this week I've had loads of crazy dreams and very interrupted sleep as a result. Boo!

Straight afterwards was Attitudes & Social Cognition. I'd thought it would be interesting but the lecture was slow and I'd already been in 2 hours of lecture so I couldn't concentrate very well. Turns out the essay we have to write is very open and thus looks IMPOSSIBURUUUU. Tried to get a lab key from my supervisor but apparently he doesn't have them anymore and I was too wussy to go see the person who does have them (I'll have to go on Thursday *sigh*). I walked home, so I didn't get back until quite late. I was too tired to even do anything when I got home!

Tuesday I didn't have lectures until 2, so I was lazy. I was still tired for my History of Psychology lecture though. Half of it was a talk about the library which was super boring and pointless, and we didn't get out until 4 Dx eheh.

Because my course relies largely on reading outside of lectures, my time in uni is nowhere near as much as for most of the other courses. So I've had today off. I stayed in bed until midday because I was so tired and my dreams kept waking me up again, although I was much less successful in remembering them to write down. I did download a bunch of papers I need to read...does that count as work? And I'm going to a movie screening (Megamind) on campus later just to make myself get out of the house. Otherwise I'll just go to bed now.

Tomorrow I have my last lecture of the week. Yes, I only have 4 lectures a week =3 Psychology of Pain at 11am, which will either be really interesting or really boring. Hope it doesn't give me a headache! And I think we're expected to go to a meeting late in the afternoon too, but not sure I want to hang around on campus all day. Even if there *is* free wine and food.

Hope I get used to being back at uni soon. I can't deal with feeling this tired and hungry all the time, especiallt when I need to start eating less junk and exercising more!

Beloved Sweetheart Bastard: Photoshoot & the Longest Saturday Ever.

Long Saturday was long. Not at all helped by the fact that I slept for maybe 2 hours in the night due to a combination of beer, flipflop bottle openers, disturbing TV shows, Blackened Sky, nextdoor neighbours drunkenly singing the Polish national anthem at 3am, loud (yet adorbs) snoring, and other such things.

I gave up on sleeping at around 5am since there was already dazzling sunshine by then, and I didn't really feel tired. You'd think this would give me time to make myself look super awesome, but most of my belongings had already been moved back home so I had a naff outfit and no hair curlers or products so my hair ended up looking a mess Dx

I hadn't been sure about taking part in the photoshoot as I'm camera shy and totally inexperienced, but I really wanted to see my friends so I made myself go.

I actually had a really great time! Amber is an awesome photographer and I learned a lot from watching the others pose. I'll definitely go to another shoot in future, but I'll make sure to put together a better outfit and practise posing! Contacts would be good too as ergh horrid shadows on my face from my glasses!

My shirololita inspiration is forever Miss Havisham. I've yet to read Great Expectations, but for my GCSE English Havisham by Carol Ann Duffy was one of the poems we had to study and I absolutely adore it.

Beloved sweetheart bastard. Not a day since then
I haven’t wished him dead. Prayed for it
so hard I’ve dark green pebbles for eyes,
ropes on the back of my hands I could strangle with.

Spinster. I stink and remember. Whole days
in bed cawing Nooooo at the wall; the dress
yellowing, trembling if I open the wardrobe;
the slewed mirror, full-length, her, myself, who did this

to me? Puce curses that are sounds not words.
Some nights better, the lost body over me,
my fluent tongue in its mouth in its ear
then down till I suddenly bite awake. Love’s

hate behind a white veil; a red balloon bursting
in my face. Bang. I stabbed at a wedding-cake.
Give me a male corpse for a long slow honeymoon.
Don’t think it’s only the heart that b-b-b-breaks.

Aaaand a couple more shots =3

After the shoot was done we had a little picnic and then headed to the pub! I didn't want to leave, but I managed to drag myself away and get back to pack up the last of my things at around 6.45. The pint of Beesting was a definite help as it helped me forget my absolute foot agony from my shoes rubbing most of the skin from my feet. Damn my delicate and awkwardly sized/shaped feet! So a rather annoyed Rob came to pick me and my stuff up as I was supposed to have been ready for 5. Ooops. The rest of the night was pizza and Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged. But the day felt like a whole week!

So now I am officially moved out and have no city residence for a month as tenancies didn't overlap, which means I have little freedom for the next month or so. Thankfully I have lots of little bits planned that should keep me sane, provided I can find the money (and outfit inspiration)!

Choo-choo!

Last Saturday I went to Cranmore with my boyfriend and his mum for some lunch and a ride on the steam train!

I thought it was good fun, but Rob was less impressed!

I was a fool and didn't put suncream on as I didn't think it was going to be sunny...

Awkward tanline is awkward! Note to self - shorts, suspenders and OTKs are not a good idea! Now I'm stuck with this on ONE leg. And my short-wearing is ruined for the rest of the Summer (but oh well).

Also this week I saw a cat on a motorcycle!

I am currently staying at my friend's house and she's coming to stay over mine tonight. Hoorah, contact with humans! Although we spent all last night watching Fringe, are currently on our laptops in silence, and will probably spend tonight watching Pretty Cure. But oh well, I like this =3

And finally, not this weekend but the next I am meeting with my frilly friends! It feels like forever since I got loli-ed up to see them. I also have a new lolita dress (the first in a long while) waiting for me back in Bath, although I'm unlikely to go back this week. But I'll post about it when I do get back.

Obligatory 'I'm still here!' Update

Here, share some secondary school nostalgia with me (I still love this band, even though they split like 5+ years ago!).

Not their best song by any means, but it's the only one that came up on YouTube =P

Well really all that's been happening with me was a sudden influx of stuff I had to do so I had to actually *gasp* do some work! Although data collection hasn't been going too well (only had 4 participants so far), I had a report to write and now I have to start making my database. I have no idea where to start so I'm ignoring it today - the plan is to lock myself in the lab tomorrow until it's done as I concentrate better there with no windows and no distractions and no endless cups of tea!

In other news, I'm actually kind of on speaking terms with all of my housemates now after spending 9 months solid ignoring them and generally being annoyed by their assholishness. So it's not really something I was expecting! I actually get on with all of them really well, so it's a shame it didn't happen sooner. Things are kind of awkward in other ways now, but nothing I can't handle. Probably.

Oh, I also finally got my hands on a Glimmer Wings pony! I bought her from Amazon as it was the first time I'd seen any being sold in the country. I just bought the other two on Ebay so hopefully they'll arrive soon too. Haven't had a new pony in ages!

Concerning vinyls, I have a bunch more now! You can view them here. Next post will probably be a Frank Turner related one as I recently ordered a bunch of cool stuff. Not sure if it'll all come though as I had problems with my card for my vinyl order and had to reorder. One of the items I wanted went out of stock between orders =/ hope my payment actually goes through this time!!

Off out to enjoy (well, to tolerate) the nice weather now! So until next time...

General Update

Sorry about neglecting you guys, but I just switched to the new Blogger and have been scared to try writing a post as it all looks so different. I hate change *grumblegrumble* ...and it seems I now have to code in paragraphs myself (I always write straight into HTML as it tends to mess up less!).

I haven't really been up to all that much! Work-wise my old study has fallen through as we couldn't get a long enough wire for the EMG. We tried running the EEG outside of the box, but there was just too much electrical interference so we couldn't see the brain waves at all. So now I have to start from scratch doing something completely unrelated...and naturally, I'm feeling really unmotivated! I only have 10 weeks to get ethical approval and get all my data though, so I ought to get my butt into gear!

Lolitawise, there was a picnic meet a while ago!

It was strange as there were so many people I didn't know, and my other half wanted to come (I'd invited him as a joke and he actually wanted to come, ahaha).

I only stayed for the picnic, but the others went on to the fashion museum! I hadn't been in a museum mood (I prefer to do such things alone).

Other than that, I haven't been up to much! I got a little collection of eggs for Easter I suppose (and I have another at my uni house), and had fun wearing my ears again.

Candy-cat liked them too.

This is the last day of a 5-day weekend. So this is the last day I can get away with not working! I also have to choose my modules for next year on the 18th, and have no idea what to take. Psychology is getting dull ^_^'

I should have things to write about later this week though, as I have a busy weekend ahead! Sadly I'm missing out on more frilly stuff though =[

Anywho, off to do some watercolour now! This may be disastrous.

Body Confidence

At the moment I am, probably for the first time, happy with the way I look. Despite being the heaviest I've ever been and the fact that my face has started to betray my age.

I know I have flaws (various wobbly bits, not the best skin...and yes, I will always be on the short side), but I accept them. I'm fine with it. I know I'm not the prettiest, but I'm not the ugliest either =P And finally I am able to wear short shorts and not worry about my thighs, and I can even wear tops which show my stomach. Finally, I am free to wear what I want, and feel fabulous doing it!

I do want to find exercises I enjoy, but that's just to improve my fitness. I don't really want to change my body at all anymore.

The only thing I don't like about my body?

Other people's reactions to it.

Now, it's not that I care what they think. I just feel a little uncomfortable when I'm walking down the street on a hot day wearing shorts, and practically every bloke I walk past stares at my legs. And then there are the comments some of them make. I am a human being, stop trying to objectify me =/ And I'm trying to keep cool on a hot day, I do NOT want the attention of sleazy douchebags!

And then the occasional woman will glare at me enviously too, like how dare someone have thinner legs than me! How dare someone be okay with their body! Or a group of girls will talk behind their hands, saying goodness knows what.

If people minded their own damned business, maybe they'd be a little happier with themselves as well! Don't bring me down too Dx Go away!

I guess it isn't something that's ever going to change, but it's just really annoying *sigh*

One day in pictures.

I think I skipped out on this during the Lolita 30 Day Challenge, so I figured I'd do one now! Tenses likely to be inconsistent.

9.30am ~ Rudely woken up by the boiler turning on due to my housemate having a shower! I look terrible in the morning...

9.45am ~ Give up on sleeping and start Instagramming random old photos...

9.50am ~ Take care of my Megu! I still want a proper Tamagotchi, but this will do for now.

10.00am ~ Get up! Make breakfast and a cup of tea to have while watching an episode of Creamy Mami. Chocolate digestives on standby.

10.30am ~ Tempted by Sailor Moon necklaces on Etsy. I prefer the Chibi Moon one, but not paying £10 more just because it has a Swarovski crystal (that looks like plastic anyway) in it. Decide to consider it.

10.45am ~ Tumblr! I'm probably about a month behind now TAT

11.10am ~ The sun came out, yay! Time for another cuppa (using the milk from my cereal...yum, cheerio-y!) before getting dressed. Trying to decide if a run is a good idea, or maybe just have another long walk like yesterday.

11.45am ~ Decided to run as the sun went back in, and you guys are reading this thinking I'm some awesome super-fit person now (lol I've never been for a run before in my life except when they made us do it at school and I was the worst person in the entire year which confused the teachers because I 'look fit', ie I'm not fat. Yes, they actually said that).

12.10pm ~ Ready to go! These trainers make my feet look really big xP

12.11pm ~ Oh bugger, it started raining! Typical =[ can't run in rain as I won't be able to see through my glasses. Pretty torrential now. Have to wait for it to stop *pleeeease stop!*.

12.35pm ~ Rain stopped, now feeling sleepy and hungry...but nap and food can wait! Let's try that again.

13.00pm ~ Shortest run ever, but managed to give me a stitch and a headache! Recovered pretty quickly luckily. Bit muddy now from where I kick myself when I run, but my towel is still drenched from washing machine disaster yesterday so I can't have a full shower =[

1.10pm ~ Open window to cool down - very windy out, so balloon getting a bit of a battering!

1.35pm ~ Lunch! With a glass of Pepsi Max and another episode of Creamy Mami.

2.40pm ~ Getting frustrated with house search as there is literally nowhere suitable for me to live next year.

2.45pm ~ Sending out adverts to recruit for my study!

3.20pm ~ Time to dress my Poupée! Upload an item too.

4.00pm ~ Finally time to get dressed! (My wardrobe is such a mess!). These leggings are so weird fitting, not tight enough on the legs. Should have bought a smaller size.

4.35pm ~ Time for a quick walk before tea. Need to post a package and maybe buy some snacks.

5.44pm ~ Walk longer than I thought! Not sure whether to eat the egg I bought or save it for Rob for Easter...bought it to cheer myself up as I wanted yoghurts but the ones I wanted were expensive unless you bought a ton of them and my housemates would moan *sigh*

5.55pm ~ Tea time! Feel guilty for eating it as apparently this rice has fish extract in it Dx but no time to cook anything else. Annoyed as someone has been stealing my milk again...a TON of it. And of course, I watched yet another Creamy Mami episode xP

6.35pm ~ Time to catch the bus!

6.40pm ~ On le bus...

...listening to le music.

7.20pm ~ Find a note on the back of a toilet door...which makes no sense. YOU SHOULD LIVE BECAUSE YOU ARE ALIVE. lolno. Cute idea though.

And make use of the mirrored walls!

7.30pm ~ Watch '9' with the sci fi society. It's quite a good movie.

8.20pm ~ Sniped on the most gorgeous vintage piece =[ must learn to sew - I want this so badly!!

8.45pm ~ Wait for the bus. Find a CD in the student centre.

9.10pm ~ Music time!

9.35pm ~ Back home! Bunny slippers on, cup of tea made.

9.50pm ~ Change into pajamas once my room has warmed up a bit. Stick on the new episode of New Girl to watch while tidying my room which has become a mess!

10.30pm ~ Making a lookbook post.

10.45pm ~ Room tidy, teeth brushed, ready to go to bed. New Girl episode waiting to be watched tomorrow as I paused it to load and ended up listening to Million Dead instead...

11.00pm ~ Sleepy-time!

Hope my day wasn't too boring for you xP
