End of 2011

1. What did you do in 2011 that you'd never done before?
I got my first brand new brand, tried my hand at programming and went to my first convention and music festival! I also started going 'out out'. Oh and started my pony collection ♥

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Didn't make any from what I can remember. For next year I intend to exercise more and try to eat less rubbish, with a view to lose 5lbs or so and lose my jiggly bottom (I want to fit into my purple jeans again!).

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My cousin did, but we aren't close since she started popping out sprogs.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Both of my cats and my Momo-ham.

5. What countries did you visit?
...England. Oh and Wales last month.

6. What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?
A sense of purpose. I just feel like my life is going nowhere at the moment, and I'm clinging onto things I ought to have let go of a long time ago.

7. What date from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
None spring to mind.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Not failing my Biology module! I thought it was a sure thing, but I scraped a passing grade. I also got my original dream print, Swan Lake!

9. What was your biggest failure?
Oh just about everything else haha.

10. Were you seriously ill during 2011?
Nope. I did have a two-week sore throat though which was pretty darned annoying.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
That's a hard one! Errrr probably Wonder Story.

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
*shrug*

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
I'd rather not go into that, thanks.

14. Where did most of your money go?
LOLITAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

15. What did you get excited about?
Hyper Japan, Reading Festival, seeing Frank Turner.

16. What song will always remind you of 2011?
Nothing in particular, but I guess that Life Goes On song by Noah and the Whale since everyone kept singing it all the time.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? A bit happier I suppose, I HAVE SOME FRIENDS *boogie*
ii. thinner or fatter? Fatter
iii. richer or poorer? Poorer

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Studying. Even though I did tons, but it didn't bloody pay off and all the lazy sods got better grades than me.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Procrastinating.

20. How will you be spending/did you spend Christmas?
Same as usual, roast for lunch with Dad's family and over Nan's in the evening. Came home earlier though this year and didn't get drunk, just had a couple glasses of bucks fizz and a jagerbomb.

21. How many one night stands?
HAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAAH no. I would never have one coz I think it's gross =P And yeah, suffice to say that's not really my area.

22. Did you fall in love in 2011?
A little *shoots self*

23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Um not really, but my contempt has grown.

24. What was your favourite TV programme?
Sherlock! Finally get season 2 tomorrow *me gusta*

25. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Frank Turner.

26. What was the best book you read?
I haven't read anything new that I can think of...Missin' maybe? Yeah I think I got that this year. It's by Novala Takemoto

27. Are you happy with your lot?
No. But I know I should be.

28. What did you want and get?
Clothes.

29. What did you want and NOT get?
Happiness. Respect.

30. What was your favourite film of this year?
Tangled.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I did sod all like every other year. I turned 20.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
To feel like I fit in. I love my friends, but I just feel like I don't belong there, as if I'm annoying them. I know it's just paranoia, but I can't shake it yet.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011?
Swinging between pink frills and casual clothes in teal, although I've moved towards richer colours now.

34. What kept you sane?
Food, probably!

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Frank Turner. He isn't the most handsome, but he has such a cute smile and crinkly eyes and just seems like a genuinely nice bloke.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The whole AV thing. It should have been passed, and only wasn't because the public are too stupid to bother trying to understand it. And whenever the Americans killed people and bragged about it...such poor taste.

37. Who did you miss?
My friends from school. Even though we stopped being friends like 5 years ago =[

38. Who were the best new people you met?
All the lolita-chans! I wouldn't want to list at risk of missing someone out, but you all know who you are. And Loulou, of course.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2011:
To stand up for myself. I won't be walked over any more because I'm so fucking disgusted at what I've allowed people to do to me without my consent.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
So why are you sat at home?
You're not designed to be alone
You just got used to saying "no"
So get up and get down and get outside
Cos it's a lovely sunny day
But you hide yourself away
You've only got yourself to blame
Get up and get down and get outside

Christmas Overview

Didn't have a great Christmas, unfortunately. My brother was ill, so I barely got to see him all day and it meant that we weren't all together. Went to my grandparents' house with dad for lunch (our big roast) and to nan's with mum in the evening. Luckily the kids weren't too irritating! Tuuli was actually quite cute. I guess it was an alright day, I just didn't feel Christmassy at all this year. I think I'm too old!

I wore Twinkle Ornament in a casual coord. I was expecting my mum to flip out, but she only saw me in it for a while which is why I got away with it, I think. Gran seemed to like it - she's a seamstress so she could see the quality haha.

Check out my epic new slippers! I was wearing heels, but I switched as soon as I opened these.

Onto presents! All the books, CDs, DVDs were on my list...I had to write random things on my list because otherwise I wouldn't have gotten anything! Wish I'd thought to ask for a DS game or two, as I have nothing to play with =[

My sack is the tiny red one haha.

From my parents:

Dad said there are still 2 gifts that haven't arrived yet, but I'm pretty sure they are a CD (Million Dead) and a DVD (Frank Turner). Unless I get really lucky and one of them is the bookshelf which was actually the thing I wanted most (since I actually need one!).

From my grandparents (apart from the fluffy socks which were from my aunt):

From my aunt:

Going to try to get a lucky pack or two for myself (out of my own money since I didn't get any money this year as I'm too old for gifts according to the rest of my family), but I'm pretty sure I won't be successful. Will have to try online as I can't get an in-store SS *le sigh*

Biffy loved his present! I took more cute photos of him after, but haven't uploaded them yet.

And Candy enjoyed the empty bags and wrapping paper while we were eating lunch!

Hope everyone had a good Christmas.

Christmas! Early Gifts =3

Haha sorry I always post all of my gifts up, and I thought I'd do one of my early gifts! I usually don't like to open presents before Christmas, but I kinda had to open ones from Rob while with him and so I opened all the other gifts I had received on the same day. Be warned - there be ponies ahead!

These were from Rob! I'd been wanting Celestia for ages, and now I finally have her! Apparently the Rainbow Dash set was an impulse buy on his part =P I have so many ponies now!

This stuff is from Rob's mum...OMG THE BOOTS! I'd been wanting some like this, but I hadn't seen them anywhere! Not sure about the coats as I'm much more of a black person that white, but I'm going to try to work them into my wardrobe. I'm hoping the chavvy one can be customised somehow to work with fairy-kei. Any ideas? I also had some glittery bath stuff =3

This necklace was from Sophie! It's so cute, although I'm scared to pull the tag out just in case it sets itself off all time (...but I'm curious to see what it does!).

And these were from Bexy! I love how much pony stuff I got, my friends are AWESOME xP

I dithered over getting the Happy Girl lucky pack in pink since the black salopette set was already sold out, but I have decided to leave it. I might try to get the JSK from it after New Year, when I have sorted out stuff to sell/trade. Trying to be more sensible with my money. So far it is no fun at all!

Anywho, here's a preview of my Christmas outfit! Not really figured out the rest yet...

Fairy-kei Day 8 ~ Friends & Family

☆ Day eight: How do your family and friends feel about the style?

As with any of this stuff, my family doesn't know. They've probably never seen fairy-kei style at all and I'm in no hurry to show them as they'll just point how childish it is, blahblah. They don't even like pastel colours, so yeah =|

I'm pretty sure my friends like it though! They're all lolitas =P

A Wild Lolita Appears!

So today I was walking home in annoyance after a major fail of a shopping trip, when I see a girl wearing a really cute skirt. I do a double take. 'That's a Meta print,' my mind says, which is odd as I don't know Meta too well and it wasn't a print I recognised...but it was DEFINITELY a Metamorphose skirt. I then notice a round bag with a big bow on it, and look down to see red tea party shoes. A LOLITA!

The skirt was something like this (this is the closest I can find)...but much prettier IRL!

I never know what to do in these situations. If I'd been wearning lolita I'd have said something for sure, but as I wasn't I didn't want to be an annoyance! Although that said I can't imagine she'd have had many comments today since her outfit was so casual (I only noticed because the skirt caught my eye!).

I wish I'd said something now...it's so rare to see a lolita out and about, especially when it is someone you don't know. It's only happened once before, and that was when a group of us were in the Hob having our lolita drinking session. But that lolita blanked us, so we assumed she didn't want to talk to us T_T

Have you ever seen a wild lolita before? How did you react? I want to know what I should say/do the next time it happens!

Fairy-kei Day 7 ~ Music

☆ Day seven: 5 songs that remind you of Fairy-Kei.

Sorry for no posting for ages, I was trying to avoid answering this question (because it's stupid) and I've had nothing else to write about.

No songs remind me of fairy-kei. Why the hell would they? Music is music and clothes are clothes. It's not like I listen to cutesy music or anything.

If I had to pick something, this is the only thing I can think of.

I don't really get why everyone is so crazy about Kyary to be honest. The faces she pulls are fug and her singing sounds terrible despite all the fakeness. Just sounds sharp constantly. I guess her outfits are cute, but really? Why the pop career? Why don't ugly people with talent get famous *headdesk*

Haven't been up to much lately, couldn't go to a meet last Saturday as the location was changed last minute (so somewhere several counties away...). Um it snowed today, but it all melted already and I'm surprised it pitched in the first place since it'd been raining beforehand. Only two more days until the Christmas holidays begin, but I've a poster to make over the holidays and I'm absolutely clueless! Oops.

Glitterhell Review

When I first saw Glitterhell clothes on my Tumblr dash, I fell a little in love. When I saw that there was a clearance sale and a black sweater, I just had to order!

My order was confirmed on the 30th November and arrived today (7th December), which is pretty good since it came all the way from America on the cheapest postal option (a mere $10).

Here are my items!

Post card (with washing instructions on the back) and a sticker! I already used the one off the packaging on the back of my diary. Also the pack was filled with cute sequins! Which naturally are now absolutely everywhere hehe.

My tees!

Decarabia unisex sweater in S size. The fit isn't bad considering it's unisex. The sleeves are a little long on me and it's a little baggy, but that's just because I have short arms and needed it this big to accomodate my lovehandles ^_^' The material isn't what I was expecting, you can see the weave in it, but it's still soft. It just means the print doesn't look as perfect as on the tee, but that is only noticeable close up. This cost $35.

See, makes me look a little shapeless, but I'm actually wearing another long sleeved top underneath so it's perfect for Winter! And the print is so adorable.

Halphas white tunic in ladies M. Now here's where I got confused as I thought I'd ordered a pink one, but assumed I'd ordered wrong or just changed my mind at the last minute. When I tried it on, it was RIDICULOUSLY long. As in, I could wear it as a dress and I don't say that about tops at all because I'm a total prude. So I checked my confirmation, and I wasn't going crazy - I'd ordered a pink scoop neck. So they got my order wrong! As it happens, I think I prefer the white now, but I don't think I can keep this shirt as it doesn't suit my body shape due to the length. If it was just that bit shorter or a bit more flared at the bottom it would have been fine =[ Cost only $15 anyway. I'll probably try it on again tomorrow with some leggings to see what it looks like and decide what to do then. If I lost some weight it'd look fine *sighs and prods fat bottom*

Communication was good as there is no size chart, but they told me which size would be best for me and were very accurate. Responses were very quick too! Also the correct tee will be shipped out soon and I get to keep the wrong one, which is really kind!

I will almost certainly order again as the products were cheap and good quality (not to mention cute!). I kinda want a Flauros print tee sometime because she has a crown xP I'm pleased overall as I can already tell I'm going to be wearing my black sweater a helluva lot over Winter!

Fairy-kei Day 6 ~ Thrift Find

☆ Day six: Your luckiest thrift-store find.

Hahahahahhahahaahah yeah charity shops are rubbish. I've never found anything remotely fairy-kei in a charity shop. I used to buy a lot of clothes from them before, but just regular clothes. I've never even found any ponies!

I think this is the nicest thing I found:

I wish we had thrift stores here, they sound and look so much better than charity shops.

Fairy-kei Day 5 ~ Places To Buy Clothes

☆ Day five: 5 of your favourite places to buy your clothes.

Hmmmm...I don't really know! I get pretty much all of my clothes from the Internet, and while I absolutely adore fairy-kei brands I don't have room for new clothes and I just can't afford them at the moment. Well, I could, but I'd have to sell a lot of lolita clothes which I don't want to do, or stop collecting ponies which I also don't want to do!

As far as actual stores go, I really only shop in Primark (and occasionally sales racks in H&M and New Look). But fairy-kei-wise they are good as their tights and knee-highs are so much cheaper than everywhere else! Also apparently mint is supposed to be the 'in' colour next Spring, which I hope is true because I absolutely adore mint and I'll be able to pick up lots of cheap stuff ;P

Sorry, I kinda avoided today's question! This morning I had a meeting which was only ten minutes long, so I treated myself with walking back from university. While the wind was cold at first, once I'd warmed up I noticed what a lovely day it was! The sun was shining and the weather is still weirdly mild for this time of year. It's perfect bird-spotting weather since the trees are all bare. I saw several robins, bullfinches, goldfinches, house sparrows and even some cute little wrens!

The only problem with walking home is that I have to go through town and I can't resist popping into the toy store to see if there are any ponies I don't own yet. I always think they won't have any new ones, but nearly every time so far they've had ONE I don't own yet, and I HAVE to buy it xP This poor pony looks stoned though!

(I also have to walk past Sainsbury's, hence the Jelly Tots...they're only worth buying in the Christmas tubes!!)

I also got this demented-looking plush swan in the mail today to go with my Keyper swan collection. They look sooooo cute together, I think!

Winter International Lolita Day, 2011

As the frillier among you probably know, Saturday was Winter International Lolita Day! So of course, we had a meet in town.

I was being overly picky about choosing my hair accessories, so in the end I just shoved stuff onto my head...but I kinda like how it turned out! I would have just been dull and worn a headbow like I usually do, but turns out that the one I had in mind looks stupid with no fringe/bangs! Here's my outfit:

I am wearing Holy Night Story by Angelic Pretty, which is one of my all-time favourite prints. IT HAS GLITTER! Bag is also Angelic Pretty, shoes and jacket are Bodyline, the rest is offbrand. I actually really like this sort of style...it's still sweet, but also kind of not? I don't really know what it is, but I think it suits me better than straight sweet either way.

I love my little robin. He's actually a Christmas decoration!

I'm stupidly proud of my candy cane nails. I want to learn to do more nail art as it seems pretty fun so far - need to get thinking of other Christmassy/Wintery themes and motifs I can use!

For the meet itself we met up at the train station and then headed to a strudel bar. Unfortunately it was full (although it looks amazing and I will definitely try to go again!), as was pretty much everywhere else. I knew it'd be busy being near Christmas and all, but it was INSANE! I have no idea how long we were walking around for, but eventually we had to split up to get in anywhere. I ended up having a nutritious lunch of McDonald's fries, which wasn't filling in the least (luckily I'm less hungry when with lots of people!). Despite all the hassle it was still a good chance to talk to people, I don't think I've seen such a large group of lolitas in a 'natural' setting before. It was awesome!

Monika made these awesome little gifts for everyone - she's so sweet! I got this cute charm and the ice-cream ring I am wearing in the photo above.

Sadly some people had to leave before we went to the Christmas market, but here's a bunch of us with Santa:

We got to try hot spicy cider which was really delicious and chocolate wine which was less so. Some of the stalls looked pretty interesting but the place was packed!

I ended up buying these cute earrings from the indoor market for just 50p!

After pottering around a little we ended up doing the usual and heading to our local pub. While it was pretty busy there too, we at least got to rest our feet (my shoes may look pretty but after trotting around in them all day...). Ended up meeting two guys who chatted to us for ages. They really liked my clothes and said that my dress 'does all the right things in all the right places'. Apparently. Haha can't say I've ever had that comment before.

Also had a really awkward conversation with one of them as he kept asking me questions and pushing me to answer them. Not in a mean way, mind you - he said I came across as shy and said I wouldn't ever figure out what I wanted to do with my life unless I talk about it. And you know, people don't usually ask these questions. Or when they do, they don't really listen. So while awkward, it was still kinda nice because I've been bogged down by that rubbish for a while now but with no one to talk to who wouldn't judge me haha. Although was extra weird because he called me attractive, which is again one I haven't heard before Dx

Afterwards we went back to Bexy's for a little drinking session. I won't share any photos from that because I look far too derp in them all! I ended up crashing there sinces buses are poop, so I only got back home (and into more comfortable footwear) Sunday afternoon!

Now I am pretty exhausted as Saturday was a bit of a hectic day and I haven't been sleeping well for a few days. That doesn't seem likely to change though as I have to be up in about 7 hours and all of my housemates are still up! Sorry that was such a long post, I could have rambled on a lot longer but I didn't want to bore you all too much ^_^'

Fairy-kei Day 3 ~ My Room

☆ Day three: A picture or video of your bedroom.

Haha I'd been meaning to do one of these things for ages. My room is a total tip, even though I literally just cleaned it the best I could. And yeah I'm in my pajamas and wearing no make-up, I hope my appearance doesn't scare you off!

Stupid how nervous I get talking to a camera. And when I'm nervous my accent changes ¬_¬

Sorry about how shitty and narrow it is. This is my first time using the camera on my iPhone, and it filmed everything sideways so I had to rotate it. And apparently the back camera films more narrowly than the front camera. What a heap of poop! Lucky I have this phone for music and not for camera.

But yes, enough complaints and excuses. Enjoy my room!

Did you see my hot chocolate with marshmallows? Scrummy!

Fairy-kei Day 4 ~ Icons

☆ Day four: 5 of your style-icons.

Somehow I find this a lot easier than picking lolitas! Um I'll link each to their Tumblr or blog coz that's how I know of them.

  • anywigwilldo, known as Pastel Ai. She's so cute, and I love her YouTube channel.

  • batssandboness. I love her Tumblr and her style is so cute! Loving black and pastels so much more since discovering her.

  • pastelraindrops. Her outfits are just so awesome and cool! I wish I had her wardrobe for sure.

  • Kyary Pamyu Pamyu. Well, she kinda had to be mentioned! While her musical talent is practically nonexistant, her style is undeniably adorable.

  • pastelbat. She has the best outfits ever! I adore her hairstyles too.

I also like creamy-pop, but I don't think I've ever seen any photos of her wearing clothes so she isn't really that inspirational style-wise =P There are many others I love too, but I don't know their names Dx

Uaaahh~ I love this post, so colourful and so much inspiration!

Leaving AsiaJam

Just a heads up to anyone reading my blog via AsiaJam - I will not be checking there for comments much longer. The forum is dead, and it doesn't look like it'll be coming back to life anytime soon.

Bodyline Buys

Like a lot of lolitas, I just *had* to take advantage of the £1 shipping that Bodyline has been offering. I haven't ordered from them for a while as their prices are too much nowadays, but I knew I wanted the military JSK when it was released and I was in need of shoes too, so I jumped at the chance!

Here's the JSK! I had a hard time choosing colour as I liked pink and red too, but decided I have too much of those colours already. Thus, I was brave and went for this green. It's much prettier in real life, and the material is the usual stretchy Bodyline fabric. The only problems I've found so far are that the gold trim is scratchy (although at least it's pretty, unlike the horrific lace they stuck on the OP) and the waist ties aren't detachable. This cost me only £25, which I think was a bargain! I didn't buy the matching headbow though as it was £8 and had aforementioned icky lace.

I did however buy the matching socks. Although they don't match. The colour is totally different. I don't know why I was surprised, last time I bought matching socks from them they didn't match at all either =P They're sweet though (hope they fit around my calves without deforming too much!). They cost £4.

The shoes I decided on. I needed some red shoes as I have 2 red skirts and 2 red JSKs, along with other items which have red in the print. I had wanted boots but they looked really cheap (but weren't actually cheap!), and considered tea party type shoes, but went for these in the end as they have a heel and I'm dwarfed by most of my local community! I went for 23 in size which I think is as well-fitting as they could be, but they DO NOT fit! I'd been worrying about length and width, forgetting that I have really deep feet. Even with the straps on the longest length they're really tight, as is the ankle strap due to where it is placed (because I'm sorry, I do not have fat ankles...and I thought Bodyline was supposed to be plus friendly anyway?). Hoping they'll stretch out with wear, although my feet will still look deformed in them. And the style of shoe makes my feet look massive, so I wouldn't recommend them for bigger-footed ladies (but then I might just be being paranoid mwahaha). They were £25.

Aaaaaan 2 pairs of tights, just because! I wear tights a lot (since I usually wear shorts rather than jeans), and I thought these were pretty cute. They only cost £2 per pair. Hope they fit, I do generally have problems with tights - either they're too small to fit around my thighs or they're too baggy at my ankles!

I could have spent so much more on Bodyline, but think I kept it to a reasonable level (£59, marked down to avoid customs). That said, I am rather tempted to make another order for tutu skirts before the shipping is raised again as I kinda need them for fairy-kei.

Also I bought this cutie yesterday as a Christmas hair accessory. I had been hunting for ponies, but to no avail...so I went in to 25th Dec to cheer myself up! I'll probably have to change the clip on it though - I didn't realise that it's plastic, so it doesn't give enough grip on my hair. But then, it *is* supposed to be a Christmas decoration =P

Aside from that, my buys recently have been limited to toys for my collection and Christmas gifts for others! There are a couple of Glitterhell items I definitely want to buy, but until the seller makes a size chart I can't risk ordering anything (and knowing my luck, they'll probably sell out before then).

Have you guys bought anything cool recently? Anyone else done a Bodyline order?
