Bodyline Buys

Like a lot of lolitas, I just *had* to take advantage of the £1 shipping that Bodyline has been offering. I haven't ordered from them for a while as their prices are too much nowadays, but I knew I wanted the military JSK when it was released and I was in need of shoes too, so I jumped at the chance!

Here's the JSK! I had a hard time choosing colour as I liked pink and red too, but decided I have too much of those colours already. Thus, I was brave and went for this green. It's much prettier in real life, and the material is the usual stretchy Bodyline fabric. The only problems I've found so far are that the gold trim is scratchy (although at least it's pretty, unlike the horrific lace they stuck on the OP) and the waist ties aren't detachable. This cost me only £25, which I think was a bargain! I didn't buy the matching headbow though as it was £8 and had aforementioned icky lace.

I did however buy the matching socks. Although they don't match. The colour is totally different. I don't know why I was surprised, last time I bought matching socks from them they didn't match at all either =P They're sweet though (hope they fit around my calves without deforming too much!). They cost £4.

The shoes I decided on. I needed some red shoes as I have 2 red skirts and 2 red JSKs, along with other items which have red in the print. I had wanted boots but they looked really cheap (but weren't actually cheap!), and considered tea party type shoes, but went for these in the end as they have a heel and I'm dwarfed by most of my local community! I went for 23 in size which I think is as well-fitting as they could be, but they DO NOT fit! I'd been worrying about length and width, forgetting that I have really deep feet. Even with the straps on the longest length they're really tight, as is the ankle strap due to where it is placed (because I'm sorry, I do not have fat ankles...and I thought Bodyline was supposed to be plus friendly anyway?). Hoping they'll stretch out with wear, although my feet will still look deformed in them. And the style of shoe makes my feet look massive, so I wouldn't recommend them for bigger-footed ladies (but then I might just be being paranoid mwahaha). They were £25.

Aaaaaan 2 pairs of tights, just because! I wear tights a lot (since I usually wear shorts rather than jeans), and I thought these were pretty cute. They only cost £2 per pair. Hope they fit, I do generally have problems with tights - either they're too small to fit around my thighs or they're too baggy at my ankles!

I could have spent so much more on Bodyline, but think I kept it to a reasonable level (£59, marked down to avoid customs). That said, I am rather tempted to make another order for tutu skirts before the shipping is raised again as I kinda need them for fairy-kei.

Also I bought this cutie yesterday as a Christmas hair accessory. I had been hunting for ponies, but to no avail...so I went in to 25th Dec to cheer myself up! I'll probably have to change the clip on it though - I didn't realise that it's plastic, so it doesn't give enough grip on my hair. But then, it *is* supposed to be a Christmas decoration =P

Aside from that, my buys recently have been limited to toys for my collection and Christmas gifts for others! There are a couple of Glitterhell items I definitely want to buy, but until the seller makes a size chart I can't risk ordering anything (and knowing my luck, they'll probably sell out before then).

Have you guys bought anything cool recently? Anyone else done a Bodyline order?

Fairy-kei Day 2 ~ Why and How

☆ Day two: Why and how you got into Fairy-Kei.

This seems a bit of an odd one. Why? Because it's cute, and all the other stuff I said yesterday. How? How does that question even make sense in this context? Unless you mean how I found it, which would be via the internet through lolita...

Sorry this is a short one, nothing much to say here. My Bodyline order got here earlier though, so I'll stick up a review later/tomorrow.

Fairy-Kei Day 1 ~ Likes and dislikes

☆ Day one: 5 things you like and 5 things you dislike about Fairy-Kei.

Likes
  • It's just so cute!! But in a different way to lolita. A little less 'standy-outy', but just as adorable.

  • The colour palette. I know people say you can use any colours in it, but I love the pastels!

  • It's pretty casual, so I should be able to wear pieces with flexibility.

  • Motifs. My Little Pony, carebears...all things I missed out on during my childhood, and now I want them =D And the whole 80s vibe...I love 80s music too!

  • NO RULES! You can really put your own personality into outfits, and make the style your own.

Dislikes
  • Unwanted attention, same with any 'alternative' fashion style. You can dress in totally ordinary clothes, but if they're pastel colour you get stared at and receive rude comments anyway.

  • Don't know where to buy! I'd love to buy the brands, but can't find anywhere to buy secondhand items.

  • Seems to be less of a community, unless I'm looking in the wrong places (not that I am looking really...).

  • My wardrobe is depressingly devoid of fairy-kei-able clothing.

  • ....no rules. It can be a bad thing too, as there's little fixed structure to fairy-kei outfits and I'm unimaginative and completely lack fashion sense.

Saying Goodbye

I've always been a hoarder, and with my lolita clothing I seem to have an even harder time of parting with things.

Up until now I'd only been able to part with things that didn't fit, or that I never liked (such as lucky pack items or when I bought my first items which were the cheapest you could get on Bodyline...).

However, today I parted with something much more special. My first Angelic Pretty item, which was my second brand piece, and my first brand 'main' piece.

I feel so sad about selling it! But it was just a piece I never really wore. When I bought it I found it uncomfortably tight, and while I can still get it on now my waist is a good few inches bigger than before! It's also a really heavy piece so it always fell a little too long for my taste. I only wore it once, back when I still didn't even have a blouse (and I looked absolutely terrible!). But I still love it - it's pretty unusual, cute, and everything you could want in a Winter piece. I actually like it a lot more now than when I bought it, but it's too bulky to store (I have negative room at the moment...) and due to it being a more seasonal piece I thought it was time to let it go.

I really hope it arrives to its new owner swiftly and safely, and that they get the enjoyment and use out of it I never did!

I also parted with another piece, a Metamorphose tote bag. Along with a broken graphics tablet, a Popteen magazine and a MLP book, I made just over £100 on eBay. Which at first sounds awesome, but I paid out for the postage on all but one item (£8) and I'm sure fees will be a bitch as always. But still better than having stuff lying around unused! Hope some of my other items shift too so I start saving some money up.

Shameless eBay plug is shameless.

More items I love to bits and don't want to part with, but I need to get rid of about 20 pieces if I want to fit them into my house, and ideally I'd like to fit them into my wardrobe!

Frank Turner!

I saw him again last night and he was AMAZING!

The journey there was a bit of a pain as we had to go from Bristol as trains didn't come back to Bath late enough, and we got lost trying to find a carpark which then turned out to have tickets expire at midnight, so we had to go to another carpark which cost £15 more...crazy, right? We went in Toys R Us on the way though, so I bought some ponies and a ginormous Hello Kitty bag, mwahaha.

For most of the show we stood at the which was raised and behind the seating area. Really odd venue, but we figured that was the best place for us to stand so we could both see (even wearing huge platforms doesn't help much when a lot of guys are a foot taller than you). I didn't have my camera though because it's bulky and I wouldn't have wanted to hold onto it if we were in the pit, which is a shame as I'd have been able to get some good photos! I had my spare phone with me, but I'd forgotten that the camera is only good in natural light, so excuse the grainy messes that follow.

We got to the venue at the perfect time - once we'd gotten in, the first act started! It was Franz Nicolay and he was really funny!

The second act was Emily Barker and the Red Clay Halo, whose music was lovely but a bit *ahem* boring for such a situation. You couldn't really boogie to it! Although when Frank came our for 'Fields of June' the place livened up a little =P

The crowd had been pretty quiet...until Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls took to the stage! I can't even explain how amazing they were, they played the best set list EVER which included ALL of my favourites. Some of the lights really added to the perfomance, even though the strobes blinded me a little. But there were mirrored disco balls! I wish I could go back in time and do it all again! I'd probably try to get closer since I couldn't see Frank's cute smile from where I was ¬_¬ hehe.

Rob wasn't nearly impressed enough, but then apparently when he said he'd come he didn't think I was being serious. Um, what? Of course I was! If I'd known he wasn't at all fussed I'd have gone by myself and saved the £30 I paid for his ticket and train fare, and just camped out in Temple Meads overnight!

I was kinda bummed we had to leave straight after the show finished, since Frank was going to the bar after and I would have loved to meet him. But probably best saved for a time when the boyfriend isn't there being unecessarily jelly.

Was a long journey home, what with the train, walking across Bristol, driving back and getting stopped by police on the way (Rob's car flagged up on their system as not insured...even though it is, but on an obscure policy. Apparently they usually take people's cars straight off them if this happens, even though they said themselves that some insurers don't give the police details...which is pretty damn unfair. But yeh they let us carry on our merry way luckily!). I only got home this morning, and am now freezing my butt off in my room not wanting to do my work! But plenty to be done ^_^'

Super Long Loli Day!

Yesterday was such a long day! Luckily it was awesome and I got to spend it with some of the best people ever ;]

I managed to forget to get a full outfit photo, so here's it laid out on my bed from when I was planning. Not the kind of thing I'd usually wear, but we'd agreed offbrand would be best for the evening. So here it is - Milky Planet skeleton!

I met Sophie in town around midday. We went to what was supposed to be a vintage market...which turned out to be a farmers' market, which was pretty lame! Not the kind of things you can buy for others for Christmas! Instead we wandered around town, went in a cute cafe (where I was a piggy and had a huge sundae!), and sat in a pub for a while to rest our feet. We ended up getting stalked at one point, luckily we managed to lose him eventually =|

Me with a centurion ;]

Sadly Sophie had to leave at about 5, so I went over to Bexy's to while away the time before the lolita drinking session (I was a little too spooked to stay in town on my own!). About an hour later we went to the Hob for epic rori drinkings...and weird photos!

Several drinks later, we made our way back to Bexy's for music and drunken singing/dancing. Involving an awful lot of k-pop...

Was a really awesome day, but after wearing my clunky platforms all day and not getting back home until 4am, I'm pretty exhausted now! So much so that I forgot it was Sunday and now all the shops are closed and I don't have anything to eat for tea. Not ideal, since I barely ate anything yesterday and need my energy to finish off my report tonight. Oops. Trying to figure out if I can afford some chips from somewhere. Not a bad day though, caught up on some sleep, trying to rest my aching bones and have listened to every Frank Turner song I have in my iTunes in preparation for seeing him Wednesday!

Christmas Lights

Sorry for neglecting my blog! I'll try to write more posts from now on. I've been sleeping a lot and panicking about my placement and research and yet not doing much work. Trying to get it all together. Next week should be no problem as I'm actually doing things for once!

In the afternoon I met Rob in town for some pony-hunting! He wasn't particularly enthused, but I gave him an early Christmas gift of Rush cassettes for him to use in his car to make up for it =P We didn't bother going in any charity shops and hunted for G4s instead, and I ended up getting these.

Can never have too many Pinkie Pies!! Although I have almost 20 of her now...eeek! I found her in WHSmith, this is the first luggage one I've seen. Dewdrop Dazzle came from Snook's, she was the only single there I don't have already (I can't afford the sets or bigger ponies).

Took a sneaky outfit shot while in M&S. Pretty messy because I was told it would be cold (it wasn't), so I even wore jeans under my dress...how uncouth! And I decided to keep my lovely Emily Temple Cute JSK for now, hooray! Also in this photo you can see my new phone. I haven't taken a proper photo of it yet, but when I do I'll share.

In the evening the Christmas lights were finally turned on in Bath, after having been up for about two months already! John Cleese turned them on...I'd kinda wanted to see that, but Rob was really tired and I wasn't feeling up to the task of trying to keep him amused whilst waiting outside in a crowd of people, so we went to Wetherspoons instead. I had a lovely curry, although I'm still annoyed they don't do the one I used to have anymore.

Came home early and have just been chilling out really (as much as one can do when they have a meeting with their supervisor tomorrow and they still don't understand anything about the subject area). Going to have a pretty hectic weekend what with meeting up with friends, finishing a report and whatever else I need to catch up on!

Small Haul

Finally received the last of my things from Celga! The plan is to not buy from Japan again...

Only a couple of items this time!

Emily Temple Cute Mermaid Print JSK...one of my dream dresses, but it's too small! I can just about get it on but apparently I'm an inch too big in the bust so it gives me a boob-loaf. So gutted, I can't really keep it as it looks too small. I thought there was a shirred version but I can't find one, and I don't think I'd wear the skirt. Just can't believe it. I never thought I'd be unable to wear a dream piece because of my size =[

My wig! Heh I'm too dumb to figure it out though, and it frizzed as soon as I got it out of the packet. It's kinda too thin too, but I guess it was a cheap one. Fringe needs a trim on it and needs restyling, not sure I'm the person for the job =P I also have too much hair for wigs really.

Angelic Pretty jacket and skirt set. This was an impulse buy, so glad I bought it though as the jacket will come in really handy over Winter! The buttons are so tackily sparkly too, I love it!!

Aaaaaaaaaand a MIB Rainbow Dash as I had credit left over. Seems odd they released her in Japan since she comes with an English-language book (supposed to be a CD too, but can't see it...so maybe she isn't MIB). I have so many ponies now, you wouldn't believe hehe.

In other news, things haven't gotten much better. My week continued to be bad, and I was annoyed at my housemates for using my pans anyway but just gone downstairs and found my housemate cooking MINCE in MY pan. So now I need to buy a new one because it's contaminated, and yet I don't want to upset her so I didn't say anything and I'm just crying in my room now. I put a note down there saying not to use it, but she carried on anyway. I feel sick that they've been using my pan for meat =/ And now I can't eat any vegetables because I have no pan to cook them in, as if I wasn't eating unhealthily enough already.

Sorry, bit of a rant there! Some things have improved though, I now have a big lamp from home in my room so I don't have to sit in the dark, and my dad is coming to fit a new light tomorrow! So I should probably tidy my room a little...

Bad Week Rant

Only two days in and it has already been a really bad week.

Sunday evening I overheard my housemates talking about what a bitch I am. They don't even know me at all and haven't made any effort to talk to me at all, so how can they jump to this conclusion? So now I hate my housemates totally and am paranoid and feel lonely and depressed. The joy.

Also trying to get hold of Finn since we were supposed to be going to see Adam Ant on Friday, but he hasn't replied and it's probably too late for me to get a ticket in time now.

Yesterday I had a meeting in the morning and only realised when I was due to leave that I'd left my bus pass at home and I didn't have any money at all. I had to get a lift from my bf and I was still 10min late for the meeting...which was really short and pointless.

I was meeting my aunt and gran afterwards in town so they gave me my bus pass. But I had to walk to town in the rain. We were Christmas shopping, but I didn't find a single thing I liked.

Get back home, and the boiler now makes ridiculously loud noises as if it's about to explode whenever someone has a shower. Then my light goes dim and starts buzzing. And some ass on eBay refunds me with no explanation, because their item sold for too little...which you are NOT ALLOWED TO DO and now I'm without phone case again (and I really need one as iPhone 4s shatter when you drop them!).

Today I try to change my lightbulb and a bit of the light fitting falls off when I take the bulb out, so now I have no light at all. Which means I can't do my work as it's too dark...I'm pretty screwed now as I can't even see the stuff on my bed to tidy up. And I need to have read 4 really long papers by tomorrow which I now can't do. Unless I sit downstairs in the living room which has damp sofas and other people's mess, and where assholes who hate me for no reason will keep walking past. I also received an item I bought off eBay which is incomplete, which annoys me too.

And tomorrow I have to get up really early (when it will still be pitch black outside, and thus also inside) and go to a meeting where I have to present a research idea, for research I don't understand at all and I get too nervous in front of people to speak at all, let alone stand up in front of them and talk about something I'm too thick to understand.

And I haven't even had any chances to wear lolita for absolutely ages which means I have thousands of pounds worth of clothes lying unused in my wardrobes, and I'm way too far in to leave lolita...especially since I'd probably lose my only friends by doing so.

So all in all I'm really frustrated and have no way of letting out my frustration other than ranting on the internet, which doesn't help as I'd rather be smashing something.
