Tragus!

Yesterday was my only day off this week as I'm working a lot of overtime, so I figured I should actually do something.

I dressed quite lightly, but this was a mistake. When I walked to the bus stop it was warm and sunny t-shirt weather. Then it rained. Then it hailed. I was so cold when I got to town!

I bought these things in H&M straight away so I could wear the jumper! I'd wanted to buy it online months ago but it was sold out, so I got lucky.

I then went to New Look and found this awesome bodycon in a concession. I really want it but this one is too big and long, but the arm bits are tight. Noooo!

They also have cute crops in! I regret not buying this...I wasn't sure about the need to freeboob, but it's so cute so I think I will be able to manage. Hopefully I get another chance to get it.

I then went to get my nipple bars changed at Broad Street Studio, and got a little something! Tragus was surprisingly not painful, although I keep forgetting it's there and scratching my ear which is bad. I love it though. Definitely working on getting more ear piercings!

As soon as I sat down in the park the weather turned from nice to gross again, so I headed to the bus stop. I was supposed to shop in Bristol too, but I was hungry and tired and the bus I was on pulled up right next to the bus home...so I just went home!

And I returned home to find my signed copy of Frank Turner's book ♥

Bristol Sharkie Meet

I've been rubbish with blogging again, haven't I?

On Saturday, I finally met more Sharkies! There was a little meet in Bristol and I was working the morning for once rather than afternoon, so I couldn't exactly not go.

I decided to wear Unearthly Vs Earthly Delights IOD as it's easy to coordinate it comfortably. I think I may have gotten a bit carried away though I ended up in quadruple BM by adding A-Sassy-Nation Bodysuit, Spider Eyes Hosiery, and Matte Black Bummers.

And of course I wore the Docs that match the dress!

After meeting up at Cabot Circus we headed to Giraffe for cocktails. Unfortunatey they couldn't do me an Amarettini, so I had to go for a strawberry cider. And I couldn't resist sweet potato fries!

Atfer a quick wander around the shops and a failed attempt to find anywhere better to eat, we ended up in Five Guys at around 7pm. I was sad as they don't do a veggie burger, but the cajun fries were super nice, and the grilled cheese with onion and jalapenos was acceptable (I'd also add hot sauce and green pepper next time!). The drinks were free refills, and the machines had over 100 drink options! American wizardry, I tell you!

Stealing this photo from Sarah as I would have felt odd taking photos of people I didn't really know yet =P

Hoping I get to know everyone better in future though! Now a little less worried about Camp Sharkiecon (although still dreading it...).

Takedown Festival 2015

Last weekend I dragged Rob down to Southampton for a little festival at the Highfield campus. We ended up getting the train in really late because he spent forever in the shower before we left, grr haha.

Since we had to check into the guest house we ended up getting to the venue only a short while before InMe were on. We had a few drinks outside since the sun was shining and the Relentless tent was blaring out The Mindsweep 👌

Our whole reason for going was InMe's set. They played Overgrown Eden in full, which is an album that takes me back to listening to mix-CDs borrowed from my older cousin in my old cold computer room when I was still a kid. So pretty nostalgic!

I'm a little embarrassed now at how much I shouted and danced during the set as I've seen other people's videos. We were right on the barrier as it wasn't too busy when we turned up!

Such a good live band though. I tried to join the pit during the last song (Faster The Chase, with Mikey Chapman of Mallory Knox), but I got knocked over straight away and ended up going straight back to Rob haha. My hand was so bruised and sore after that!

Everything is a bit fuzzy afterwards as I had too much to drink too earlier like an idiot, but we did see the very beginning of Rolo Tomassi's set. I was thrilled that they started on Ex Luna Scienta as it's the one song I know well, but they only played a very short version of it.

We caught a bit of Decade while having a sitdown after getting food, and we found a CD and some crisps that somebody must have left behind!

Then I insisted on seeing Charlie Simpson as he was so good before. And he was good again. I just felt bad as Rob had wanted to see someone else but I was already hungover so he didn't want to leave me.

Hungover/drunk selfie is obligatory.

We ended up not staying for Mallory Knox which sucks as I know they're super good, but my head hurt a lot & it didn't hurt to beat the bus rush either. But ugh we missed the afterparty and I paid so much for travel and parking and hotel and stuff. I need to learn my limits...or at least not stop drinking until the night is over, geez. At least they're playing at Download this year, if I recall.

Direct trains didn't start running back the next day until the afternoon, and our check-out was at 9am. So we had to kill a lot of time! First by going to a café until shops opened, and then having a wander about.

The Rockbottom Toystore had XXL ponies! Sadly they didn't have Pinkie Pie...which is just as well as they were £50 each (and that's apparently half price?!).

I managed to rein in my shopping a little! I finally bought a cute little Disney Tsum, bought new socks since my New Rocks shredded the pair I wore the day before, top I'd been eyeing in H&M for a while for £2, and a cheap pony mug/easter egg. Also the Relentless bands & CD from Takedown!

Also had the worst burger ever at Yates. So soggy and tasted bad and was really expensive, and the chips and onion rings weren't cripy either. Boo. Spoons may have stopped the mexican burger, but I still wish we'd just gone there now!

Sad that I now have to wait until May before my next gig, which happens to be InMe again!

Ballet~

After the madness of Shikari on the Friday, I hopped onto a train at Waterloo to Andover on the Saturday. I didn't take photos though (other than of food) really as I suck apparently! So I'm stealing them from Facebook ;P

Bexy had prepared an awesome feast for us! I ate so many little sandwiches and cake and macarons ♥

We went to see a ballet performance of Sleeping Beauty. I'm not sure it was my kind of thing (I'd prefer a huge show with live orchestra and enough room for the dancers!) but I'm glad we gave it a go and it was a chance to finally wear my Étoile Twins dress!

And just like the good old days, we had some drinky-poos and went out to a rock club afterwards! Yes yes.

Such a good weekend, although getting back home on the Sunday was a mare between incompetent people at the train station, missed rail replacement buses, and the Bath half. But hey ho! Hope we get to do something like this again soon ♥

Mixtape

My goal of buying less Black Milk continues to fail miserably with the Mixtape release! I hear there is an upcoming black-themed release too, so basically I am doomed.

There was a big issue with this release though. My payment (a voucher) was accepted, but the order failed. This happened to a lot of people. It did all get sorted out, but I was stressed thinking I would miss items, and then ended up with doubles when the order finally resolved! The team did sort everything out pretty quickly, but that didn't stop a wild panic as I scrabbled to get onto a different browser to make my purchases with one defunct voucher!

My first order was of course the Mucha Black Vs La Trappistine Inside Out Dress. I'd been waiting for this one! It got hit by customs though, which was a shame (but 1 out of 2 isn't bad!). I really hate it on me though! The colours look terible on me. Will have to endure some pretty serious layering attempts to make it work.

My second order arrived first due to lack of customs. The Night Tribe Straps Skater Dress was my second pick of the release, and the reasons should be obvious. I wear A LOT of black, but this has a bit of sparkle that makes it interesting without being too flashy. Plus I wear my Death By Disco Straps tons, so I can give it a rest now! I also grabbed the Braains Skater Skirt to go with my crop, and decided to ignore my decision to not get the Disco Doll Tartan Cheerleader Skirt as I couldn't resist the shiny. I'm thankful for this as, while not overly wearable, it is absolutely stunning fabric! Not to mention perfect for nights out.

I guess I have had worse releases, but then I did have to strike off a few from my list!

That said, I did go back for the Once Upon A Time Black Playsuit after thinking on it for a bit, and I'm glad I did as it's much more flattering that I had feared! I just need a cute belt for it. And finally got some shorties in the correct size (Tartan Green Shorties), and ended up deciding I'd regret not getting the matching crop to match the skirt.

Woopsie!

Enter Shikari London 27/02/15

Soooo the temptation became too much and I ended up being a lucky duck by getting a ticket from a randomer on the Enter Shikari facebook page so I could go see them again!

I managed to get a room in a hostel on The Strand called Hotel Strand Continental. It was a bit crappy, but I only needed a place to sleep with good transport links so it was perfect. Sadly I missed the free breakfast the morning after, so I can't comment on that!

I arrived in London pretty late so I didn't have time to do anything much before the show. I just went to a Wetherspoons in Camden called Ice Wharf for a couple pints & some chips!

When the venue opened I went straight in to grab a bit of barrier. Which was dumb as I didn't grab a drink on the way which meant that by the time Shikari were on I had a hangover setting in which was a giant fail.

So glad I made it in time for Fatherson on this occasion as they're really good! Will definitely be picking up one of their albums at some point. Scottish bands are so gooood. Rou even joined them on stage for one song! Obviously I saw Allusondrugs and Feed The Rhino again, but I don't see the point in posting more photos of them...haha.

From my spot I could snap some sneaky pics while the boys were preparing to go onstage eheh. Senpaiiiiii~

Chris and Rob limbering up haha.

Naturally the setlist was the same throughout the tour, but the banter varied a little. Also damn, I need a better camera. I swear my photos from Cardiff were way better despite being much further away!

See, such close much Rou many wow.

And Rory fucking C! I really need to find footage of his pre-Last Garrison 'war cry' because oh god my sides.

Then I had the stressful and headache-ridden journey to The Garage for the afterparty (I couldn't find the bus stop and by some miracle managed to jump on the last tube as it was pulling off, pretty much!). I wasn't feeling it at all, which was a shame. I think I nodded off. Would have been great had I still been drunk and had I been with friends, but alone and in pain wasn't great!

It was just a DJ set too rather than proper Shikari Sound System remixes. But while I didn't enjoy it and had to leave as soon as I felt awake again to make sure I could get back, I'm super glad I went as I'd have regretted not giving a chance!

I was very glad I had the hostel to go back to. It was a simple bus journey and then I crashed out instantly. I got back at around 3am I think!

Despite my failure to plan my drinking adequately, it was hand down the best gig I've ever been to. The band were on fire and the worst I endured was having drink spilled on my leg. Non-rough barrier is a success in my book! I mean central would have been a better view for sure, but last time I had crowd surfers over my head I smashed my teeth on the barrier and had a nasty split lip so yeahhhh no =P
