Lolita Blog Carnival: How I've Changed In Lolita Over The Last Year

This year I have definitely noticed a shift in my lolita style, and so I thought now would be a good time to get back on the Lolita Blog Carnival!

While I haven't worn lolita very much, there has definitely been a shift in purchases from pastel colours and supersweet prints to darker, more mature colours. In fairness, this change occurred more last year, but it definitely became more pronounced this year. And I finally got my hands on some Juliette et Justine this year!

The easiest way I can show this is by showing my outfits from the two big events of the year.


For Enchanted back in April I wore the most OTT sweet piece I own. Lots of pastels and cloyingly sweet! Everything matched with pink, all the time.


Fast forward to September's Revelry and darker colours reign. Still sweet style, but more carefully chosen accessories.

I'm not pleased with either of these outfits to be honest, and I plan to rework both in future. Who knows, maybe I'll show more changes when I wear those pieces again!

Lolita Blog Carnival: Your Lolita Halloween Style

Our Halloween meet isn't until November, but I haven't participated in the Lolita Blog Carnival for a while now and I figure this gives me a chance to start thinking about my outfit for it!


I have only one Halloween-specific lolita piece, and that is Baby, The Stars Shine Bright's Halloween Alice from 2007. It's a dress I've had for a good few years, and it was one of my dream pieces when I bought it. While not too wearable, I doubt I'll ever sell it as the cut is so unusual.


This is a coordinate I made using this dress from way back in 2011. Since the meet will involve a ghost walk, I imagine I will coord it in a more practical manner this year. But we'll have to wait and see!

What kinds of themes do you like to bring into lolita at Halloween? I'm really not adventurous with it at all!

Lolita Blog Carnival: The Most Versatile Lolita Item I Own

Thanks to a buttload of overtime, this is the first Lolita Blog Carnival post in quite a while! Sorry about that. I'm writing it in advance to make sure I actually have something to post this week.

I'm going to assume that this theme refers to a main lolita piece since things like socks and blouses are very versatile and not limited to lolita fashion.

For this I am going to have to choose my most used item, which may not really seem so versatile at first glance!


Angelic Pretty's Sugary Carnival skirt in black! Excuse how faded and fuzzy it is =P

I think it's versatile because it matches so many things I own since my wardrobe is based in pink and black and has been from the off. Plus being a skirt makes for more potential combinations.


Although it has a bold print, I think this makes it easier to build an interesting outfit even in the most casual coordinate. Doing the same with a plainer piece can make for a very flat, dull outfit.


This print was my original dream print, but that isn't even why I wear it so much. I just find it so easy to wear! I can't really explain why. Here are 4 outfits I found on my Lookbook using it...of varying gross outfitness, sorry! I hope I wear it better now.

I should probably endeavour to find versatile pieces that suit me better since I suit darker colours better, but for the time being this continues to be my go to piece when I don't know what to wear or feel I look crap in everthing!

Lolita Blog Carnival: Picnic Coord & Menu

As it happens, we had a picnic yesterday at the zoo! So while the following may not be the best for this week's Lolita Blog Carnival theme, they were what actually happened ;P I won't be listing a full menu as we all bring a little bit each, so I will share what I made for the occasion!


This is the coord I wore! I was torn between two coords, but I plumped for this one in the end as Sophie was wearing a chocolate print too. The weather was really hot and sunny, so I tried to keep as cool as possible.


For my savoury I cooked up some odd little snacks! I don't actually know what they are, but they tasted good enough.


For sweets, I decided to try out ice cream cone cupcakes! The icing was far too sickly, but I'd definitly try making them again.

Lolita Blog Carnival: Lolita Inspiration

The theme for this week's Lolita Blog Carnival is Lolitas Around The World: Who Inspires You? so I'll be sharing with you some of my favourite lolitas! Obviously the super famous ones such as Rinrin and Misako go without saying, so I won't go into that!


sanriopalace is definitely my favourite lolita at the moment! She's from New York and pulls off Angelic Pretty salopettes like no other. Her pastel combinations always bring a smile to my face.


xylia_x is someone I've been following for quite a while now on daily_lolita. She's from Australia and, while her style is much more classic than mine, I try to draw inspiration from her when I step out of my sweet comfort zone as she always looks flawless.


crazy-kitsch is someone I've been following for a super long time! She's from Belgium and her style is so quirky and colourful!


chokelate is a Dutch lolita who caught my attention a long time ago, and she's since been a model for Juliette et Justine! She always looks so elegant.


thehijabilolita/alyssa_loveskitties is someone I only recently found on Instagram. I'm not sure where she's from, but I *think* near San Fran? I love her adorably sweet coords so far and will definitely make a point of seeing more of them in future!

That was a rather colourful trip around the world! Obviously there are many more lolitas who inspire me, but these were the ones I thought of first. Which lolitas inspire you the most?

Lolita Blog Carnival: Favourite Lolita Shoes

Today's Lolita Blog Carnival task is to introduce our 3 favourie pairs of shoes for lolita. This is a toughie for me, as I usually wear the same gross boots over & over for comfort, and they don't count as lolita at all so I won't even include them!


Tea party shoes are a classic, and even though they're really unflattering I think every lolita should try a pair! I tend to wear my pink ones more, but my Angelic Pretty pair fell apart and I'm not too fond of my Antainas, so I'm picking my black Angelic Pretty pair here.


Rocking horse shoes are another classic. I own 3 pairs, but this crazy Antaina pair are the ones I tend to use the most. Good for big events as they make a big statement!


It was difficult to pick a final pair as the above are the only truly lolita pairs that I find comfortable enough to use regularly. However I think I'm going to go for my go to pair of heels, which I got from Peacocks around 8 years ago. They're a bit beaten up, but can work really well in my more gothic outfits.

Lolita Blog Carnival: Disney Coordinates

It's that time of the week again...Lolita Blog Carnival! This week we're looking at all things DISNEY. If you don't love Disney, you're lying.


I'm choosing to focus on Minnie Mouse, because I don't have energy for this and it's an easy one to pick as there are already so many great coords!


Angelic Pretty dresses lend themselves well to Minnie Mouse coords. Fantasic Dolly is one that springs to mind.


Dot Midnight Doll would be a cute one too!


A good excuse to wear animal ears with lolita! I even saw ones like this for about £3 at H&M recently.


And chunky yellow shoes would finish off the look! Antaina has a bunch of character accurate ones, but I'm rather taken with these Vivienne Westwood Melissa ones.

Lolita Blog Carnival: Your Dream Lolita Event

This will just be a quick Lolita Blog Carnival this week, as I really have no energy right now!


I'd say that the ultimate awesome would be a big frilly trip away somewhere.


Disneyland would have to feature!


If France, then a visit to the Palace of Versailles.


If Japan, then lots of cultural stuff! Definitely check out some traditional tearooms.


And of course, SHOPPING!

Although I guess that would be a bit of an extreme event! If only I had lots of money...

Lolita Blog Carnival: Your First Lolita Item

This week's Lolita Blog Carnival topic is first lolita item! My first skirt was from Bodyline, but I bought it on Ebay along with matching socks and tote for around £12 if I remember correctly. This was back in very early 2010!


The fabric was printed backwards for some reason, but the flocking on the trim was nice. I really don't think it was too terrible a first purchase, although I couldn't coord for shit. Unfortunately I deleted all my old webcam photos recently! I thought I posted them on Twitter before deleting them, but I can't find it. I wore a plain black long sleeved shirt and T.U.K. cat shoes...I looked awful but got lots of compliments somehow!

Lolita Blog Carnival: What's Next On Your Lolita Wishlist?

This week's Lolita Blog Carnival concerns something I am really really bad at...planning purchases! I have a tendency to just grab things on a whim whether or not I'm likely to wear it!

In terms of things I need...more chiffon blouses. They're so much comfier than other kinds, and look more elegant since they don't have the huge peter pan collars prevalent in the blouses I own thus far. However, I find it difficult to spend £30+ on a blouse, especially when I can't try them on beforehand as I've had some really ill-fitting ones in the past! But one in wine red, offwhite, and black would be nice.


I have been eyeing this one from Dear Celine for a while.

As for main pieces, I'm pretty tempted by Angelic Pretty's upcoming Crystal Dream Carnival since carousel prints are kind of my thing.


However I think it will be released during Glastonbury weekend, so I will have no chance of getting it! Probably for the best as it's the OP I want, and it's too flashy to be of much use in my wardrobe.

Lolita Blog Carnival: Create A Flower Themed Coordinate

I'm contributing to this week's Lolita Blog Carnival theme a tad late, as I knew I was going to wear a flower theme coord to Enchanted! This was my first time wearing Angelic Pretty's Romantic Rose Letter, and it truly is a dream.


This was my first time wearing lenses and lashes! The lashes were so uncomfortable, but the lenses were mostly fine (I'll review them another time).


Shot before leaving. Was really difficult cramming the princess sleeves into my bolero! I didn't sort my hair out until I was in London as it was easier and I didn't want to risk missing my bus!


A more natural light shot. I'd wanted to wear a bonnet too, but there wasn't room on my head OTL

Lolita Blog Carnival: A Casual Coordinate for a Quiet Day

There are lots of occasions when you want to dress up nicely, but either don't have the energy or want to remain comfortable since you aren't doing anything special. In this Lolita Blog Carnival post I'm going to show some of my old casual coords. To be honest, a lot of my coords are casual because I'm a lazy butt!


This is a recent one I wore to visit my grandparents for tea. Fully-shirred OPs may look pretty gross, but they're so comfortable!


This is one from last Summer, and the quality is awful, sorry! It was a super hot day and we were just having a picnic and dossing around in the sun, so a coord without socks and blouse was ideal.


An even more casual one from two years ago! This was just for going over my boyfriend's house and I had to walk to town comfortably.


One last one from a whopping 3 years ago! This is my favourite kind of casual coord, with a short Angelic Pretty skirt or dress and comfy cosy layers and boots. Although these skirts often look a little awkward for some reason!

This post wasn't really what I'd wanted to do for this theme, but I've been working overtime and super early mornings so I didn't have the energy to make up a new cute coord for this =[ Hopefully next time!
