International Lolita Day

The first Saturday of the month was Summer International Lolita Day! I ended up being really late thanks to work and really bad traffic due to some neo-Nazi protest going on at Park Street (there were a LOT of police about, including Welsh ones!). Also saw a HUGE nude cycling group when stuck in traffic...interesting!

A bunch of us met in Bristol for bagels and lolita bingo! It was a nice chill afternoon after the stress of getting there was over. However I did twist my ankle really badly missing a tiny step out of the venue and it still hurts weeks later #fail

I finally wore Angelic Pretty's Mercator Antique Shop. I got a lot of compliments for it! I find it hard to coord due to the strange colour (it claims to be mint but is more duck-egg, I'd say?), but it's just so pretty!

There were also party bags with sweets, a bow, and a post card, plus I somehow won with both of my raffle tickets and got a cute Eiffel Tower necklace and an Angelic Pretty bracelet! The bigger prizes were amazing! I really need to have a sort out before the next one so I can donate some things.

Somehow when I was waiting for the bus some chavvy youths offered me a beer because apparently I looked "fit". I don't even. But hey, free beer!

egl Wardrobe Post 2016

Original post HERE.

Since my closet is still wildly out of hand, I figured I'd stick to the same format as last year and just post my additions for the year!

It's not been an overly frilly year for me this year as I've been focusing more on building up my Black Milk wardrobe. But I'm still not ready to leave lolita entirely, despite selling my favourite dress last year (Romantic Rose Letter OP...some day you shall be mine again!).

Linking to old posts even though a few of them seem to have lost their images:

blog20152014201320122011

Angelic Pretty's Mercator's Antique Shop JSK - I initially wanted the black version but missed out. I'm not sure about this colour on me, but it's too lovely to give up on just yet as the print is so detailed.

Angelic Pretty's Royal Unicorn JSK - have been having a nightmare finding anything in my wardrobe to match this, but the fabrics are so luxurious.

Angelic Pretty's Milky Cross OP - The wings sold it for me, and didn't own any cat pieces somehow (unless BTSSB's Lovely Sweet Room counts!).

Angelic Pretty's Milky Cross Skirt - I actually wanted the JSK the most but ended up with everything but even though it turns out it's shiny & scratchy...

Angelic Pretty's Belle Epoque Rose JSK - again with those fabrics ♥

Angelic Pretty's Celestial JSK - I adore this more gothic piece, although the darned pearls fell off when I tried it on & I'm nervous about sewing them back on.

Angelic Pretty's Celestial Skirt - Been meaning to sell this one as the waist is too big, but I think we can assume that I suck at selling things by now!

Alice and the Pirates' Horoscope JSK - Impulse buy as I'm digging navy a lot at the moment.

So I stuck to last year's resolution to pad out my darker pieces! I didn't realise I had so many new pieces until listing them like this, as my most recent purchase was way back in June. This year I will try harder to resist the temptations of Angelic Pretty!

Celestial (aka Bankruptcy)

After preordering it forever ago, Angelic Pretty's Celestial series was finally sent out. Unfortunately customs completely screwed me over and I had to pay a £215 ransom to get mine. Damn right I'm pissed off, I now have no money at all and I don't even want these pieces anymore *screaming*

Anywho, the goods...

Navy skirt and socks.

The colour isn't as bold as I was expecting. Sadly the skirt is slightly loose on me, so I think I will sell it (I have several other navy skirts now anyway...haha).

Black JSK, bonnet, and socks.

The bonnet has dangly detachable pearl detailing and lots of cute lace.

The pearls on the bodice look a little wonky, but they're a super cute touch. Just gutted still that the sheer outerlayer isn't detachable as it hides all the glorious print details and the soft fabric. The high cut and long length are also a shame! I think I will keep this one for now, though.

After this disaster I decided to ignore Angelic Pretty releases. Which bit me in the ass as Shadow Dream Carnival JSK in black is now a dream piece and I missed the rerelease of Glass Doll which was also a dream piece. All in one week. Typical! I couldn't afford it anyway, I guess -_-'

Belle Epoque Rose

I keep saying I'll stop buying lolita clothing as I never wear it and feel stupid in it, but then Angelic Pretty keeps twisting my arm. All. The damn. Time.

After resisting Belle Epoque Rose during the Japanese release, I decided to try for it in the US one. I missed the JSK and bonnet, but scored the skirt! I'm not really a skirt person though, so oops!

The fabric is that beautiful soft one they used for Romantic Rose Letter. The print is busy, but quite elegant.

And lots of ruffles in the back! Hoping to get a navy blouse in similar fabric to coord this with.

I also got the matching tights, which I'm sort of regretting now as the print on the skirt is much whiter than these are so they don't really match. Hopefully they will be cute with other pieces though!

This piece is definitely a contender for my Regalia outfit, but I find skirts so difficult! Hopefully it works out though.

Spring Picnic

Since the weather has finally turned sunny, I attended a small lolita meet in Bristol on Saturday!

I'm not happy with the outfit I put together as I had to throw it on at work without seeing it all together, and I'm not fond of wearing pink. But I really wanted to wear Wonder Story for the first time in ages as it's perfect for this time of year, I feel. Jacket, skirt, and socks are all Angelic Pretty, blouse is Innocent World, jewellery are Metamorphose and Patisserie Pink, cardigan and flower crown are Primark, shoes are Bodyline.

I made some double custard cream blondies and double oreo brownies! I'm not pleased with those either...nothing can live up to the toblerone brownies I made recently.

I also made cucumber maki. Came out messy, but tasted so good and was so easy to make!

The fooooood.

Ziggi's gluten free cake was amazing! The texture was so strange but so so good.

After the picnic we went into Bar Chocolat and I fell in love with the chocolate ducks!

I was so tempted by cheesecake as it looked yummy but I had already eaten so much that I opted for an ice cream instead to cool down after so long out in the sun.

When I got home I opened my gift that Maria and Monika brought back from Paris for me - more chocolate! It's so insanely beautiful that I can't bring myself to eat it yet though. Colourful shiny chocolate ♥

I always feel strange in lolita recently. I'm never happy with my coords, and I really hate being laughed at by strangers. Guess I'll have to up my game and get more confident though, as I have bought a silver ticket for the Regalia Saturday event later in the year!

Ballet~

After the madness of Shikari on the Friday, I hopped onto a train at Waterloo to Andover on the Saturday. I didn't take photos though (other than of food) really as I suck apparently! So I'm stealing them from Facebook ;P

Bexy had prepared an awesome feast for us! I ate so many little sandwiches and cake and macarons ♥

We went to see a ballet performance of Sleeping Beauty. I'm not sure it was my kind of thing (I'd prefer a huge show with live orchestra and enough room for the dancers!) but I'm glad we gave it a go and it was a chance to finally wear my Étoile Twins dress!

And just like the good old days, we had some drinky-poos and went out to a rock club afterwards! Yes yes.

Such a good weekend, although getting back home on the Sunday was a mare between incompetent people at the train station, missed rail replacement buses, and the Bath half. But hey ho! Hope we get to do something like this again soon ♥

Angelic Pretty Mini-Haul!

So I inevitably ended up falling in love with an Angelic Pretty special set after forgoing the lucky packs!

After a few attempts I managed to score a set on auction! It was slightly over retail, but I feel lucky for being able to get it at all so soon after release.

The dress is GORGEOUS. The fabric is different than I've seen used before, very soft. I really wish I hadn't passed up on the black version now as this colour will be difficult to coordinate!

The headbow is very plain, but that isn't a bad thing.

And SOCKS! I'm surprised they put out socks with these ones.

The print is like a mishmash of lots of other prints released throughout the year, which I think is great!

I also spotted a Royal Unicorn JSK in the military style I adore while perusing auctions, so I couldn't resist grabbing it.

I love the detailing and the brooch!

While I'm trying to move away from pink, I think this colourway was the best due to the contrast between bodice and skirt. Also it's a non-pastel pink, so it'll be interesting trying to work with this colour.

Hopefully I get a chance to wear these soon! I'd love to wear Royal Unicorn on Valentine's Day, but I'm working until 1200 & everyone is meeting at 1230! Not sure if I can make it!

Lolita Blog Carnival: How I've Changed In Lolita Over The Last Year

This year I have definitely noticed a shift in my lolita style, and so I thought now would be a good time to get back on the Lolita Blog Carnival!

While I haven't worn lolita very much, there has definitely been a shift in purchases from pastel colours and supersweet prints to darker, more mature colours. In fairness, this change occurred more last year, but it definitely became more pronounced this year. And I finally got my hands on some Juliette et Justine this year!

The easiest way I can show this is by showing my outfits from the two big events of the year.

For Enchanted back in April I wore the most OTT sweet piece I own. Lots of pastels and cloyingly sweet! Everything matched with pink, all the time.

Fast forward to September's Revelry and darker colours reign. Still sweet style, but more carefully chosen accessories.

I'm not pleased with either of these outfits to be honest, and I plan to rework both in future. Who knows, maybe I'll show more changes when I wear those pieces again!

Christmas Meet

Way back on the 6th of December our comm had our Christmas meet. Well, two meets actually! I had to work from 06:30 to 11:30 in the morning, so I didn't have a lot of time to get ready and ended up retying my hair on the bus without brushing it...

Obligatory bus and music shot to begin. I finally got to wear my Holy Night Story set in green, along with the coat that Antonia gave me back in the Summer. I could only do up one button, but I count that as a success!

Part one of the meet was at Cox & Baloney for a fancy afternoon tea.

I actually enjoyed eating brie for the first time ever as I'd never had it with jam before!

Such a lady, haha.

Perhaps the strawberries and cream flavoured tea blend was going to our heads.

Afterwards was karaoke! I tried my hand at scoring Celestial or Sugar Dream Dome since it was released during the meet, but 3D on an iPhone 4 was woefully inadequate.

Lots of singing happened though, and I kicked frilly butt at the quiz again!

Since Sophie stayed at mine we headed back into town after I had finished work in the morning for a late lunch in Giraffe.

I had nachos. Boring, but I loooove nachos.

Somehow I ended up just taking derpy photos and photos of food again, huh.
