Lolita Blog Carnival: 2014 Trends You Predict

This week's Lolita Blog Carnival task is to predict the trends for this year! I'm never good at these things, but it's still fun to give it a go!

• OTT gothic. I'm not too hopeful for this, but what with the mini surge in OTT classic, I'd love to see some proper OTT gothic! With crows on headpieces and feathery wings on backs; longs talons on nails.



• Bonnets. I'd like to say 'maxipad' headdresses, but I know that won't happen. I'd love to see more bonnets, and plan to buy and wear more.



• Old school. I think I said this last time I was supposed to be predicting trends, but I know there's still people out there wearing it. MOAR!



• Heels! They're already pretty popular, but I think elegant heels will be a big thing. Fewer tea parties and clunky heels.

Lolita 52 Challenge: Week 19

Wow, I forgot about this for a long time! But I'm trying to get back into the loli blogging scene. I just joined the Lolita Blog Carnival, so you can look forward to more lolita-related content soon! Now, let's get on with it, shall we?

~ Trends I thought I loved, but now I'm not too keen on ~

This is another odd question as nothing really jumps to mind. I guess I'll say split wigs, and twin tail wigs in general.

I used to love them and really wanted one myself, but they seem to be really difficult to pull off well and are a bit too 'costumey' for daily wear. I'm kind of glad their popularity seems to be waning, as I love seeing natural hair used in lolita! Although all that said, they can still look amazing if worn well.

When I think crazy wigs, I think Tempest Paige. Here are some examples, two good and one a bit crazy!


...Okay, I guess I still kinda like them! Just not as much as I thought I would as a sweet lolita.

~ 3 trends I wish would come back ~

1. Old-school! Can't lie, while this look is outdated and probably considered ita today, I do miss it. It's so simple and so much more practical without huge headbows and petticoats, and the dresses were a little shorter back then so they fit me better!
   
    


2. Natural hair. I just don't like wigs unless they look really natural. I think they make it look so much more like a costume than a fashion, and so many people just chuck on a wig that doesn't match their outfit because they think they're not a 'real lolita' without one. I've even seen sad outfits where the person is wearing a wig but no petticoat. It's just weird. I hate how wigs are such a big part of the western fairy-kei scene too as Japanese wearers of the fashion just do not wear wigs. And I guess a part of it is that people tell me to wear one...guuurl do you really think I could fit all this hair in a wig cap even if I wanted to?


3. Sailor style. People still wear sailor lolita I guess, but I would like it to make a comeback. I would definitely like to own an old-school sailor piece one day, and then I could back the trends I've mentioned here all at once!
